I bought these to replace a different brand of “waterproof” hiking boots (boots that had directions inside the boots on how to waterproof with their waterproofing spray before wearing) I bought the previous year. These boots have had almost 200 miles of hiking, fishing and hunting put on them in a year in rain, snow and drought conditions. They still look great, have held up extremely well and are still waterproof without any additional waterproof treatment. I've been plagued with extremely flat feet and recurring plantar fasciitis for decades now, and I always had foot and ankle pain during and after a hike.... I was nearly ready to quit hiking for good!! I spent several hours researching hiking boots for flat feet and the Merrill Moab 2 Mid Waterproof boot was rated the number one boot for flat feet in nearly all the reviews I read!!! I was still a bit skeptical when I ordered them, but when they arrived only 48 hours later, I replaced the sock liner with a good quality supportive insole and went on a several hour hike. These boots were comfortable right out of the box, and I was able to hike for several hours without any foot or ankle pain at all, for the first time in several years!!! These breathe really well, look cool, are super comfortable, and offer good ankle support. They fit as expected. I am a person with bad feet so I'm extra picky. After spending a day in two inches of half frozen slush on a hike, I decided I needed something better suited to trails. Research, research, research. A lot of the top boots are $150+. These got high ratings on multiple websites. Get these on Amazon way below prices I'm seeing elsewhere. First trip: mud, river, and slush. I had to adjust the laces because the tongue is a little fat, but that's ok. 6 hours of hiking, feet felt fine. Went past ankle deep in water in a couple of places, so my feet didn't stay completely dry, but they were keeping my socks dry otherwise. Still comfortable at the end of the day. These are the best for ankle support and if you have narrow flat feet. They also come in larger sizes. Great for sloppy weather. Highly recommended.

So here is the review place keeper. I ordered these boots in my size and tried them the day after they arrived. After a full couple days, there were no hot spots on either foot, heel or ankle. Initial fit and finish is acceptable. I'll be back after the summer.
