Bought the Erie mid boot to replace my 7 year old Moab mid boots. Love my original Moab's but the bad reviews I saw on the newer Moab 2 made me give the Erie a try. I bought this for hiking in NJ/PA where most of my hikes are fairly level areas with some rocky inclines. A waterpoof boot that is light and comfortable to wear all day. It does this very well and after a couple of hundred miles and 4 months I see no significant wear or damage. But it is less secure fitting and not as tough as my original Moabs are, definitely not a boot for serious hiking in steep rocky areas. The lacing system just does not allow getting the boot secure enough and the soles are thinner, softer and less grippy than the Moabs. I did buy these a half size bigger as recommended to wear with heavy socks and this works well length wise, but in the medium width my foot moves around side to side a bit whereas the Moabs are good and tight in the same width. If you are looking for a light, comfortable, waterproof boot for less strenuous hiking these will keep your feet happy. If you need a serious hiking boot for tough terrain, look elsewhere.

I went in the snow with these hiking boots but were not waterproof as the snow melted and seeped through the front of the shoe. Disappointed as they look really good and are very comfortable.

Light weight and comfortable however these do no fit like the Merrell Moc models; they have a differeent feel as they do not form around your foot as the Mocs do. Time will tell as to their lasting quality. Overeall a nice boot with good traction; feels more like a Sperry than a Merrell.

I like these hiking boots as they are lightweight and waterproof. The negative is that I am having difficulty getting the proper size as this company things seem to have changed in regards to sizing from boots I've had in the past from them. In this case they seem to be quite narrow. I'm not sure if I'll keep trying meaning sending back what I have and ordering a different size.
