  • Best multi-purpose shoes I've owned so far.
Size: 11 Color: Khaki
I love, love, LOVE these shoes. This will be my second pair in something like 10 years. The first pair took me for over a month in Tahiti and have been everywhere in between since about 2017. I got them originally because I wanted something hikable that would dry quickly as our trip in Tahiti found us on a boat for 2 weeks. I also wanted them to double as water shoes that would do a little more than sandals to keep rocks and gravel out. After that trip they've been out numerous times camping, fishing, and vacationing in other places and have performed very faithful service as an everyday shoe because of their comfort. I Love these shoes. They're definitely a very good mixture of just the right amount of lots of things for me. For my lifestyle they're like a sport utility shoe. Does lots of things well but nothing perfect. Regardless the trade offs are all more than tolerable and beat the pants off of most shoes I've purchased in the past to do one or two things. -First, they perform as a workable water shoe. They will stay a little wet but I haven't had many problems getting them to dry after about a day in the sun. Even when wet they don't stay soaking or sopping wet for long. -I would very easily trust them for hiking and backpacking for long periods of time. Although, I haven't done much of that with them yet I imagine some waterproof socks and wicking socks would complete the ensemble to make these very comfortable thru trip gear. -The comments about them letting in sand is true. Sand yes, rocks NO! I can tolerate a little sand in my shoes but stepping on gravel or sharp shells can screw up your whole day. They kept the big stuff out and that's what I really cared about. -They're very comfortable and light. Nothing overly supportive or gangly and tough to screw up your natural stride. Going on dayhikes are a dream. -Resilliant. These have been in the washer more than a few times. I must have worn them for thousands of walked miles now and they're holding up well. No delaminated rubber or anything unusual considering the amount of wear. The ONLY reason I'm buying another pair, in fact, is so that I have a reliable/fresher pair to take on longer hikes where I don't want to worry about a failure. In all seriousness, these have outlasted a few pairs of Catepillar steel toe workboots and a number of other pieces of footwear I use less frequently. They've been covered in cement, used to kick or push rocks, walked in for god knows how many steps, survived my disgusting foot smell, been washed and dried more than once and they're still in good shape and look decent enough to wear into town on weekends... Just amazing. ... show more

  • Great shoe. I wound not hike with it though.
Size: 14 Color: Khaki
This shoe is awesome. Not squishy or soft like a tennis shoe but super supportive and light weight. The mesh is tough and airy letting plenty of air in keeping your feet cool. Great water shoe or a shoe for someone who loves to fish. I wouldn’t hike with it (at least in west Texas). I took these shoes hunting and the mesh was large enough that the tall grass would poke through and poke my feet which was really annoying. Also, I stepped on a few mesquite and cactus thorns that went straight through the sole and into my foot. If you know anything about those types of thorns, they will go through just about anything though, so I’m not going to trash the shoe. The shoes really are great quality. They have an amazing amount of grip and I love the vibram sole. Despite my minor hunting mishap, the shoes are tough and have held up awesome. Wearing these shoes is almost like being barefoot but with more traction, protection, and support. Love these shoes. The insole is built in and can’t be replaced and the result is a quickly drying shoe. I wore them to the pool a few times and I submerged them (no socks) and within 10 minutes they were dry and undamaged. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a moderately “outdoor” shoe that doesn’t stray to far from civilization. They are great even as an everyday shoe. Don’t get me wrong either, probably would be great for hiking on trimmed and maintained hiking trails, I’m just referencing my personal experience. Highly highly recommend these! ... show more

  • Great shoes
Size: 10.5 Color: Black
Got these after trying some solomons that fit my foot too narrowly and hurt while I hiked. Merrell makes the best hiking shoes that I've tried. Sturdy, the all black looks great, and they are super comfy. Also dry pretty quickly though I wouldn't call them water shoes. Fit true to size, I'm a men's 10.5 ... show more

  • Was perfect for tough mudder!!
Size: 9 Color: Black/Red
Sizing: I had to buy a 1/2 size smaller than I normally would to make sure it was snug. (I didn't want these slipping off when I was walking through mud.) Despite being a 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear, these were still comfortable. Performance: I bought these specifically for Tough Mudder Tahoe 2016 and purchased these a month before the event for break-in. Lots of jogging on concrete/asphalt, lots of baseball practices, lots of hiking on trails...these were comfortable from day 1!!!! Broke-in very nicely (but they were comfortable from the first day already.) Tough Mudder: these handled AWESOME on all the different terrain from Northstar at Tahoe: mud, rocks, dirt, water. These grip!! Yes, these did lose grip in the pyramid scheme obstacle but that obstacle was meant for your shoes to lose grip (jump into muddy water before getting on the slick incline). The Everest - I was able to run up the wall high enough to where I could securely grab another mudder's hands to be pulled up and over. Water obstacles: In all honesty, I am not as strong a swimmer with shoes as opposed to barefoot, but I was still able to swim comfortably because the shoes are light and does not soak up a lot water like normal running shoes. These shoes drained water quickly and easily (you need that for tough mudder). Due to the many water obstacles, these shoes were damp not soaking wet. If it was hotter than 50s/60s, I'm sure these would have dried. I fully expected that these shoes would be ruined base on what experienced mudders have told me. After the race, I hosed myself down as well as the shoes and the shoes looked fine. Got home. Gave a thorough cleaning and it still looks good. Yes, there are some stitching that has come loose (like old well used shoes) but it has not compromised fit, comfortablness, or performance. They still work AWESOME. One final note: I did not get these shoes for free or at a deep discount in exchange for my honest review. Lol. I paid normal Amazon price for these. This review is truly unbiased and unpaid for. ... show more
