And what does 17.5 micron mean? 17.5 micron superfine merino fibers are finer than human hair — too fine to feel itchy, even on sensitive skin. Standard wool (25+ microns) causes irritation; this doesn't. OEKO-TEX certified, tested against 100+ harmful substances. How do I wash and dry it to keep it looking new ? Will it shrink or lose shape? Machine wash cold max 30°C, delicate cycle, inside out. Lay flat to dry — tumble drying permanently damages merino fibers. Store clean and dry; keep merino in sealed bags to prevent moths. Wear 3–5 days between washes — merino resists odor naturally Which weight should I choose — 165, 250, or 320 g/m²? 165 g/m² — active pursuits, travel, spring/summer, 40–60°F. 250 g/m² — cold weather, most outdoor activities, 25–45°F. 320 g/m² — frost and low activity, 10–35°F, extreme conditions. Rule: the higher the activity level — the lighter weight. Where does the merino wool sourced from and is this product certified? Our products are made from New Zealand merino wool, RWS certified — independent farm audit confirming animal welfare and land management standards. • A Gift That Truly Made a Difference
Size: Small Color: .250 Black
I purchased the Merino Tech 100% merino wool thermal sets (320g, charcoal gray) for both my mother and father, and they absolutely love them. Truly—love them. Before this, I had always sent them synthetic thermal underwear (polyester-type fabrics), which were fine, but after discovering Merino Tech, I realized what a huge difference natural merino wool makes. This is a complete game changer. The fabric is incredibly soft, smooth, and gentle on the skin. My parents immediately commented on how comfortable, warm, and luxurious it feels. It’s not itchy at all—just cozy, breathable, and beautifully made. On top of that, the design is stylish and flattering, which is rare for thermal wear. They look good and feel great wearing them. What impressed me just as much was Merino Tech’s outstanding customer service. I had a discount code that I forgot to apply at checkout (which is totally my fault), and most companies would simply say “sorry, we can’t do anything.” But the Merino Tech team was incredibly kind and generous—they honored the discount after the purchase and refunded the difference. That level of integrity and customer care is rare and deeply appreciated. I also love that merino wool is a natural fiber. It feels healthier, more breathable, and more aligned with the body than synthetic materials. You can genuinely feel the quality. I am so happy I chose Merino Tech for my parents. It was a gift that truly made a difference in their daily comfort, and that means everything to me. I highly, highly recommend Merino Tech to anyone looking for premium, natural, and beautifully made thermal wear. ... show more

  • Perfect for so many occasions
Size: Large Color: Black Oil
This was an awesome deal! I already owned one of these shirts which has served me well through trips to Alaska, and various hiking and travels all around the country. It is my go-to base layer. It looks nice on its own, and absolutely serves its purpose under any type of clothing. It keeps me warm when it’s cold and nice and cool when it’s warmer. The best part is that because of its wool qualities it stays in great shape even between washes! I wore it several different days during a cross country road trip and after setting it out at bedtime, by the next morning it was fresh as new! That is my favorite quality about merino wool! It is soft and not itchy, trim and not bulky, and keeps me warm while still being breathable and never too hot. I am such a fan of this brand and will probably buy even more so I can wear them more on the daily (instead of just as cold weather/hiking/traveling wear). I definitely needed to get another one so I bought this set because what a deal to get not only the shirt and pants but also the hat and socks! All set now! I will note that these do run a bit large. I am usually around a M/L in size, after reading the comments when I bought my first shirt I bought a M and it fit great! It was fitted with a bit of room to spare. When I bought this set, seeing as it comes with bottoms (I am a true L in bottoms) I bought L this time to try it out. It was a bit baggy and quite roomy. Would make for great pajamas! Maybe a little too loose for base layers or on their own. If I were to buy another pair of these I would def size down again and get M for both top and bottom. Overall, I am so happy with this brand and highly recommend! ... show more

  • A great choice for thin comfortable layers that keep you warm
Size: XX-Large Color: .250 Charcoal Grey
I don't always write reviews and I really should because I use them. I bought this wool base layer as something to wear for an upcoming trip to Anchorage and Fairbanks, but I've gotten to try it out as my area had a recent snowstorm with single digit F temperatures. This under regular jeans and a thin sweatshirt then my heavy coat made me comfortable outside and slightly overheated shoveling. It's nice and thin, the shirt looks like a regular shirt but the sizing of the leggings on me are a little baggy to look good on their own. They go under jeans really easily so that's not a problem for me. I love that they give a pair of socks with purchase, those are really nice too. ... show more

Great quality and fit. Wool is the best insulator. Not itchy. Great price.

  • Warm and soft, but poor durability Warm and soft, but poor durability
Size: Medium Color: Black Oil
UPDATE: I contacted Merino.tech with the feedback and they quickly replaced the bottom pant, honoring their warranty. Original Review 3-stars I wanted to love this Merino.tech merino wool baselayer set. The fabric is warm and, after washing, it does feel soft and comfortable against the skin. As a baselayer, it does a good job retaining warmth and initially feels high quality. Unfortunately, the durability has been disappointing. The fabric pills very easily, and after only seven wears and two washes (both done according to the care instructions), the set already looks heavily worn. I also noticed a small hole developing. For a merino wool baselayer, this amount of wear in such a short time is concerning. For the price, I expected these to hold up better over time. They’re warm and comfortable, but the premature pilling and damage make it hard to recommend them for regular use. ... show more

  • Inconsistent, but if you get a good pair this is a great base layer!
Size: Medium Color: 320 Army Green
I bought multiple pairs to try the fit, softness and warmth. Found that the 250 for women was not as soft. In fact, they are prickly and itchy. But, I got my husband a 250 blue pair, it was pretty soft. Not much different to him to his 320 black. My 320 army green is super soft. Cashmere like. Very warm. Bought the 320 black, very itchy. Hate the socks. They are itchy and rough. I would rather pay cheaper price than get the socks. I bought the gaiter from same brand, hate it. They are thin and rough. Not recommended. Size is true to fit. With a small being very closed to your body. If you want some room around your midsection, size up Overall, I give 3.5 star to 4 star for inconsistency. If you happen to get a good soft pair, keep it!!! It is as good as smartwool, helly hansen and all those nice base layer. ... show more

  • Soft after you wash it—3x a charm! Durable and warm. Tops can be worn on their own.
Size: Large Color: . 320 Black
When I put on my first pair of Merino.tech wool I thought reviewers had deceived me. They were much scratchier than I anticipated. I ordered two to test, but sent one pair back (I felt guilty returning the pair I tried on...yes I did wear underwear beneath, but still.) I decided to grin and bear it. Flash forward ... one wash. I immediately noticed a difference in the fabric. It was much softer. Not as smooth as silk, but not scratchy to the point of distraction. Two washes ... They were comfortable. Still not silk, but I could wear them even under tight fitting clothing and they were fine. I reordered the pair I returned. Three washes ... so cuddly! Not silky, but soft. On doing some research I found that sizing is used in wool to make it easier to work with—think starch. Starched underwear (or base layer, or whatever) is not something you want next to your skin. It takes about three washes to come out. I bought four pairs in the end, three in medium weight, and one heavyweight, and wear just about everyday (it's cold this year!) The fabric is breathable (so important ladies...ahem). It doesn't retain odors. The heavy weight pair is the softest of all. I wear them as jammies. Hubby loves them. Kids aren't scandalized when I pad out in the morning in them. I am recommending to all my friends and family members. The only thing I think you might want to worry about is if you don't live in a place that is really cold, or if you wear them under clothes into an office, you *might* get too toasty. ... show more

  • Great products
These base layer undergarments are decent buy. The warmth is good for under clothing since they are not really too thick. I have only just bought them last month so I am unable to determine the durability as of yet. I have washed them twice according to wool products to preserve their longevity. I believe they will last. I am 5 ft 1 in and 105 lbs and I purchased a medium since I rather have a loose fit on my body and these are just that, looser than too restrictive. I was happily surprised to receive a beanie hat that I am using overnight to stay warmer and a pair of token socks as well for buying there products. I was happily surprised and like the material and color. They are not scratchy or harsh. I recommend these to anyone living in the colder areas in this world. ... show more
