Sturdy construction and built to last. The lid is not designed to close perfectly, so don't worry if doesn't, it's ok. For those of you who noticed wabbling sometimes, this is not the pot being badly constructed, it's just physics. When you put the basket assembly in cold water, and then turn the heat on, it could start to wabble on the stove because the bubbles are forming to lift the whole basket plate on the bottom instead of the bubbles funneling through the pipe that leads to the basket above. To stop it from wabbling, simply lift a little bit the whole foot/ basket assembly, and the problematic bubbles will escape into the water to the surface. To prevent any wabbling, first heat up the water to almost boiling point and then drop in the foot with the basket (use a heat proof glove to drop it in as not to get burned) and you'll avoid the wabbling problem in this way. It makes amazing coffee and is easy to clean. It is great for when you have guests or go camping. About the glass knob, please DO NOT tighten it to the lid, leave it a little bit loose or it will crack as the metal lid expands in hot temperatures therefore putting the glass knob at risk of cracking. Don't worry it won't fall off when slightly loose. I cannot emphasize enough the glass knob being slightly loose when you make coffee....do this and your knob is not likely to break. Don't place the hot knob under cold water either, the temperature shock is not good for glass, let it cool down before you wash the pot. Also, wash the pot with simple warm water, don't scrub with detergents. The pot inside will build a little bit of a coffee glaze over time, leave it like that, it develops character and a specific pleasant coffee smell. ... show more

It’s nice to have a percolator again. If you know how to use one they make great coffee. No plastic to leach in your coffee, and no wasteful plastic pods. Just stainless steel, coffee grounds and a little patience. Looks good on the stove too.

    • Works well with a little adjustment
It is a nice simple perculator. It is well made. There is a little learning curve on the timing and burner control. You don't want to let it perc too violently. I find a steady perc for about 6 minutes is just right for me. The bore for the glass nob was too big and the nob would push all the way in and fall right out instead of screw in and stay in. I was going to send it back but I adjusted it. I left nob out and placed the top of the lid on the counter. I gave the threaded area a couple love taps with a hammer to tighten up the bore. I grew up watching my grandparents and parents drink perked coffee, mom used a coffee pot exactly like this, I would watch her every morning. When automatic drips came out and I got married we got one, and I noticed right away the difference in taste. Years later my wife and I bought electric perk, after electric perk, they all broke, or failed quickly. We went back to automatic drip, and a few days ago the glass pot broke, thank you. I bought this. We were using our camping perk, but when we got this in my wife packed that one back up and we now use this. I can tell you this, once you taste perked coffee vs drip coffee, you will understand the difference. I told my wife is a coffee shop ever started selling perked coffee all the drip coffee shops would go out of business. May people simply do not know how to make perked coffee in a stove top pot so I'll give you my 50 years of experience. 1 fill the pot to the bottom of the holes of the spout from looking inside, that equals the outside 12 cup mark. 2 Because drip coffee is to fine, they make a filter to insert in the coffee holder, put in a per-hole filter. 3 I add 6 heaping scoops of coffee and level all round. The exact way is 1 level scoop per cup. My way equals about 8 scoops and gives a great perk. 4 Assemble the pot, turn on high but only until you see it perk a few times, then drop the temp to medium. DO NOT LEAVE ON HIGH it will burn 5 Let it perk for 7 full minutes then turn to simmer The coffee will be super hot, much much hotter than drip coffee so be careful, it will smell richer and fuller as well. My husband is a big coffee drinker and he’s been through so many coffee makers and French presses. He mentioned growing up with “cowboy coffee” but he simply meant a percolator 😂. The material is sturdy on a gas stove and he’s excited to try it over a camp fire. I don’t drink coffee but I could immediately smell the difference. The aroma was stronger but not as bitter. I had high hopes for this given all the good reviews. Sadly, my experience is poor. For $40 I expected it to last more than 3 months, especially since its only used once a week. The glass top in the lid broke this week and the lid does not stay closed well. Would not recommend.
