Description

Merceneries Saga Chronicles consists of a collection of the three entries in the Mercenary Saga games; Mercenaries Saga: Will of the White Lions, Mercenaries Saga 2: Order of the Silver Eagle and Mercenaries Saga 3: Gray Wolves of War. All three titles play as tactical role-playing games games, playing similarly to the Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre series of games. The player directs a team of characters across a grid to battle a computer-controlled opponent team in turn-based combat. In a character's turn, the player makes decisions in regards to moving a character on the grid within their movement range, and potentially attacking opponents if any are within the attack range.

  • Worth the extra cost for a physical copy
Great game. I missed out on playing a lot of games for the DS and other consoles during that time. So I’m greatly enjoying the game with fresh eyes. I’m currently 15 hours into the first of the 3 games. Some people balk at paying more for the physical copy, but I like knowing that I own the game and can just pop it in and out of the switch or lend it to a friend to play. ... show more

  • A Good True Tactics Game
The story is nice and its really 3 games or stories in one. It is quite fun to play but the difficulty can throw you for a loop. True to a tactics game it is all fights and shopping. There is no overworld to explore you just go from one mission to the next. There are story missions and free mission. It feels like the free missions are forced upon you because of how much the level spikes to each story mission. eventually it feels like you'll hit a wall in story mission and you'll need to grind your level up. I would have liked to enjoy the story more freely than that however fighting against the odds is what is fun about tactics games. The strategy to overcome an obstacle. So while there are points where you will need to get a few levels to even the game a bit it is not anything deal breaking. ... show more

  • Good game
Love the game so far. I grew up on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and this is similar. The art style and the turnbased fights are just like it. Music is bland in the game but i don't care a lot about that. Story is just alright but I bought it more for nostalic reasons. $30 is a bit much when you can get it cheaper in the eshop. I prefer owning physical copies though. ... show more

  • Good game just not for me.
Never played the original games when they came out but had a chance to play this couldn't pass it up. The story is not bad and the game play is fun but spawning enemies into my formation mid battle more than a few times was more of an annoyance than a challenge the game got stale after a few hours but if you are a fan of the series it's a great deal ... show more

  • MSRP is too much for what you get
I bought this game for $39.99. It is a compilation of the Mercenaries Saga games that were previously on mobile (to my knowledge) and the Nintendo 3DS (except one of them... Not sure which). In any case, the game can be purchased digitally on the Nintendo Switch eShop for $14.99. I like to buy physical games so I can sell them if I no longer want them. But I can't really recommended this one. The box art is nice for what it is and the inside cover has a battle scene from the game. Nothing more. I can't justify paying an extra $25 for this package especially when I ended up not caring much for the game. It is a turn based strategy game and looked a little bit like Final Fantasy Tactics for the GBA. Unfortunately, I found the game to be uninspiring for me. I didn't get into the story. I also didn't care much for the music and graphics. If you are interested in the game, just get it digitally. If you are a collector or a big fan, just wait for it to go on sale. ... show more

  • 3 games in 1 a great buy.
Game is very fun. I've only completed the first of 3 stories, but it's a standard tactical battle system. It lacks in bells and whistles what final fantasy tactics had, and even less than tactics ogre but still a decent play. Game came on time and had correct shipment notifications.

  • Unplayable due to bad controls
It is amazing that a game can be released in this condition after Final Fantasy Tactics was released. It is unplayable by how awful the controls are. Skip this game and play any version of Final Fantasy Tactics.
