  • Hiking and Fishing

Their light and getting broken in for fishing. My Husband is a true outdoor guy and these made him happy, especially for his feet.

  • Multiple Terrain Tested
Size: 8.5
The media could not be loaded. These Outjets feel immediately comfortable with decent flex, and a pinch more drop from heel to foot than I am accustom. With 12 days of solid wear all day and every day, I am very happy with these budget boots. These have had many short hikes (the longest being 4.5 miles with 1045’ ascent and 1075' descent) They have seen mud, clay, gravel, grass, layers of fall leaves, a pinch of snow, copious amounts of rain, crazy steep dirt inclines, and even some very steep bushwhacking. These shoes have generally good traction, decent protection, and my feet stayed dried. See my happy feet doing some of those terrains in my quick video. The very wet and very slippery wood deck was less slippery, but still deserved careful walking. I only slipped once on yesterday’s crazy steep dirt trail, and that was because of ground movement not shoe movement. No video of that since I was busy trying to not die. These have fairly beefy ankles for only one pair of lace points. And there is a much wider distance between the ankle hook eyelets and the top regular lace eyelets than between any of the other eyelets. In other words, lace pressure isn't distributed evenly enough for a comfortably snugged up ankle. I really wish there was one additional pair of lace points. The ankle more gape than I'd like. After some make my own trail bushwacking, I came home with a bunch of debris in my shoe. Also, after my first downhill stint, I had to do some break-in ankle fabric folding, as well as play with lacing techniques, to eliminate an irritable rub on my right outside ankle. The laces stay tied well and have not required double knotting. Unfortunately, one of the laces is already showing some fray as shown in my photo. I suspect vigorous tightening around a hook eyelet. The heel pocket seats pretty well. I haven't noticed my feet slopping around in the boot while doing up and down hill. I noted pretty good cushioning over all. Water initially beads up nicely on the outer fabric. While this is happening, dirt and mud cleans off easily. The surface fabrics saturate eventually. Fortunately the deeper water membrane layer has been keeping my feet dry. It is cool enough ( mostly 40’s and 50’s F) that I am not experiencing sweaty feet. These men’s 8.5 are a good fit. For comparative purposes, I have a slightly wider forefoot and slightly narrower heel. I have tended toward Keens women size 10 and Ahnu. For backpacking, the Oboz Bridger women 10W and La Sportiva's TX mid (mens EU 42.5) work great for my feet. Thus far I am happy I grabbed these. They are a good bang for your buck. It will be interesting to see how they perform over time. ... show more

  • Run small,and narrow
Size: 10
The overall construction of the shoe seems quite good. I'm sure they will do what I want them to do but I'm going to have to break them in. They are right on the edge of being too narrow. Why is it so difficult for manufacturers to just do the right thing and design and sell them wide width only??

  • THIS IS A GREAT, HIGH-QUALITY HIKING BOOT
Size: 9.5
There is a LOT to love about these mid-cut hiking boots (and a potential negative). Here are some details I observed: ⦁ These have a very sturdy feel to them and yet are lightweight. Each boot weighs just 18oz., compared with my now second favorite boots at 26oz each and my heavy-duty boots at 37oz each. This IS my new favorite pair of day workers. ⦁ They were comfortable right out of the box, without any break-in. The pair I received came pre-laced. ⦁ They are true-to-size, so confidently order the actual size you wear. ⦁ The insole is cushioned (not overly so) and the ankle collar is soft. ⦁ I found them to be quite easy to slip into but there a loop on the back to assist as needed. The connected tongue keeps water out of the boot and it doesn't move around on you when you're tightening the laces or after walking for awhile. ⦁ The soles are good-quality, traction-grabbing, real rubber (I say this because some of the boots I've been seeing lately have a sole where the tread looks good but the material itself is slippery, like it's made of plastic or something). Also, while I cannot call them scuff-proof, I had to try hard before any sort of mark was left on the floor (and even then it was faint, Bravo!) ⦁ Special Note: the pictures of the boots make them look Black/Gray. But in the light you can tell they are actually a very dark Green/Gray. I actually really like the color-scheme, but since the color wasn't listed in the description, I wanted to be sure you were aware. If I were forced to find something to criticize it is this: they need beefier laces. While the ones provided are not dollar-store thin, they are not the thicker laces that usually come with better quality hikers. Also, the laces are not waterproof. Regardless, I couldn't be happier with these boots and am rounding my 4.7 star review up to 5. ... show more

  • Runs a little on the small side, doesn't breathe well.
Size: 9
Gave these a try in California's Owens Valley this week. Exposed them to trails consisting of rain, snow, and desert sand. First impressions: These boots run a little on the small side. I am normally a size 9, and these boots at size 9 are quite tight. Recommend going up 1 or 0.5 size to make sure you have plenty of room. These boots break in super fast, which is nice. In snow and rain they keep your feet warm, but not really dry. They don't let moisture in, but they're not great at letting moisture out so it does get quite soggy in there. I found these were good for about 10 hours of wearing before my ankles started to feel a bit of pain, I suspect these are due to the boots being slightly undersized. All in all, these are great recreational hiking boots. ... show more

  • Great Boots
Size: 9.5
I got these boots for my son for Christmas. They were very comfortable and will work great when walking around this winter. The traction is great and they are easy to put on and take off. The nicest thing is they are heavy at all so you don't feel like you are stomping around and can actually walk in them. I would highly recommend. ... show more
