Not because I needed to replace it, but because I always thought I was done having kids andvgave it away when my child grew out of it. Melissa and Doug toys are made to last. We have a few of these puzzles and they are my kids favorite. The sounds are loud enough but not TOO loud that they become obnoxious. The pieces fit nicely into their spots and come out easy enough. It's nice for him to get to learn about various instruments as well. The only bad thing I can think of to say is that in order for the sounds to work there needs to be decent lighting. Something about the sensors on the puzzle need to see light before you cover them back up in order to trigger the sound. Good pictures and sounds. Two year old enjoys playing with puzzle. One year old loves mocking the sounds. Because it is light sensitive we found only one animal could be off at a time or movements (shadows) would react to other animals so a cow would moo when a dog was revealed. The animal sounds are good quality. Feels very sturdy and will hold up well over time. On/off switch is nice. One thing to note, in order for the sound to work right, it MUST be in a well lit room. We thought ours stopped working the same day we bought it but it was because we were trying to use it at night in a dimly lit room (we didn't think it was very dim). Was working at all. The put the puzzles directly under a light and it works just fine. Next morning working just fine. So just make sure you're in a well lit area for the sound to work right. There's a bunch of reviews saying their sound stopped working and I'm willing to bet they were trying to use their puzzle in low light. ... show more

I'm really disappointed in this item. I thought I knew what I was buying, because (gosh more than 15 years ago) I used to babysit a little girl who had a bunch of these puzzles. They were high quality and beautiful and made noise everytime you put the puzzle piece in its place. I opened this puzzle 10 minutes ago and not only is it not working all the time, (Makes the correct noise about 50% of the time, if it makes any noise at all) but my daughter put the cat piece in her mouth (her favorite animal) and the sticker on the piece is already peeling off. Definitely not worth the price and I will be much more hesitant to buy new products from Melissa and Doug in the future. I can't say it enough I'm so disappointed. Really a bummer. ... show more
