  • A little small, but otherwise very useful
I've been looking for a waterproof, drop-resistant box for one of my cameras for a while. Once I found this one, I figured it would work well. I've been using it to hold an old medium format film camera, which is about 10 inches from back to front, and it about 4 inches tall. It is just small enough to fit in this box, but it is a tight fit. The foam included with the box is pre-perforated, which makes it easy to pull out different chunks of foam until whatever you're storing fits snugly and tightly. The bottom and top of the case also has a soft foam on it, which is also convenient to store things you want protected from drops. My camera is just short enough to let the box close, but you have to push down with a reasonable amount of force. Luckily, the foam on the lid compresses easily enough not to damage anything. I'm also able to fit a few rolls of film and a secondary film back in the case comfortably, but I'm about maxing out the capacity of the box. Overall it is built well, and at a fraction of the price as a Pelican branded case, I'd prefer the Meijia box every time. The only thing I'd prefer to have different, though, is the foam. I'd prefer to have it without the perforations and just deal with the headache of cutting it out myself. With the perforations that makes thin parts of the foam easy to tear, which I've ended up doing. Also with the perforations, it's more difficult to get a precise cutout for whatever it is you're putting in the case. ... show more

  • Nice and Solid
This is a nice, solid little case. It's got some pick-and-pluck foam, so you can customize it for whatever you need to use it for. I have a lot of camera gear that I use for photography and video production, and this will likely be for my spare camera body and batteries. The handles on the sides have some spring-loaded safety features to keep the latches from coming open when you don't want them to. That's really cool. The build quality seems quite nice, and it's pretty heavy duty. The weird thing about this is that the latches are on the sides, which is different from every other case I have. The ridges on the top and bottom are also different from the others, making stacking not work to keep things from sliding around in the back of the car. Other than that, I can't find any faults with this. It's slightly smaller than the big name brand's offering, but it's also a third the price. This is a big win in my book. The market leader is very proud of their name, and there are now a bunch of others out there making high-quality products, such as Meijia with this one. I own 3 Meijia hard cases, and really like them. You won't be disappointed with this. Update: I realized after working with this case for a bit that the valve used is a one-way, over pressure valve only, and is not adjustable (openable). This means that if you go from an area that's really hot like a desert photo shoot to a cool area like air conditioning, you may end up creating a vacuum on your case and not be able to open it. This happened to me with a different brand that didn't have a valve at all once, and I'm concerned that this could happen with this case if you aren't prepared for it. ... show more

  • Excellent For Audio Recording Devices
I use this for my Zoom H6 with the standard x/y mic kept attached, and with a wind screen, and it fits perfectly. It also leaves additional room for the extra cables and components to be fully padded. Great construction, great materials, great attention to detail all around. It locks snugly and securely. The foam is easy to remove with just your bare hands if you're careful. I just pinched little bits at a time and carefully tore them and the little cubes all came out squarely. The padding is thick and I don't worry about the H6 inside of it at all. Not that I would throw it around, but it could probably fall off a table onto concrete and I wouldn't worry much. Awesome case. ... show more

  • A middle-ground between the cheapo and the pro grade, but a bit pricey.
In terms of size and general form factor, this is competing directly with pro-level cases like the Nanuk 905 (which I own several of, and use frequently). Sitting next to my Nanuk 905 they are almost exactly the same dimensions. This case is a step above the super cheap bargain store stuff, but not as nice as the Nanuk. They might look similar from a few feet away, but the subtle differences become clear when you open them and use them. Now, I'm not saying this case offers inferior protection... given a similar foam configuration, this thing seems well positioned to provide very similar protection to my Nanuk cases (although I inherently trust the watertightness of the Nanuk more). But the materials, action, and overall feel of the handle and latches on this just feel a bit cheap and clunky compared to the Nanuk. This wouldn't be an issue if this case cost half as much. But at $48 for this vs ~$60 for the Nanuk 905, you're only saving about 20%. For my money, for job-critical or constant use I'd probably spend the extra $12 and get the nicer case that's going to be a joy to open and close every day. That said, there's a lot of things in my life that could use a hardshell case for long term storage and occasional use, but don't need the ultra-luxe treatment or premium features of the big brand. And in that case, this case might be the perfect solution. ... show more

  • Great protective case.
I am using this case for my endoscope camera and I know it is well protected in this case. This is a very well made hard case. The latches on this case fit snugly, so you will never have to worry about them coming open accidently. This case has a nice handle and a pressure relief knob. I am happy with this case and I did not find anything about this case that disappointed me at all. ... show more
