    • Amazing and easy once I learned how to use it
Was able to remove scratches and water-spots that Ultimate Compound could not. Every product has a learning curve and I started off doing things wrong: too much product, not working it in long enough, and in partial sunlight. This make the product cake on and was so hard to remove. And I tried the recommended number of 4 or 5 passes - horrible - would dry out so much had to lube it with spray in between. Then I changed the process: priming the pad before each and every panel, working in the shade, and blotting product on the panel [uniformly and less product] using a foam hand applicator - I was able to get every bit of it off with the buffer, and using a microfiber towel after was very easy to remove any light haze remaining. So shiny after. So different than the old days of using a rubbing compound! Doing this, it started acting like a regular (easier) polish for me and I just fell in love with this stuff. For an occasional tough water-spot, I used a foam hand applicator and just rubbed it out. Porter Cable 7424x at speed 5, and a yellow Chemical Guys foam pad, I only needed two passes in a cross-hatch pattern. Then I'd go after any residue or build-up that remains and buff those off until the panel had no build-up or any caked product on it. Just a light haze easily removed by the m.f. towel to reveal a surprising shine. Never read anyone doing it this way but got great results and I found it to work better for me. I scuffed some of my rubber trim since I was lazy and didn't tape. But there it overlapped onto some plastic chrome trim, it didn't hurt anything. So watch your softer rubber trim - tape it with painter's tape. ... show more

I was totally sad when I saw my boat this year and it looked almost white. I tried the old rubbing compounds of the past and did not see any way it was coming back. So I bought a 79 dollar Harbor Freight Bauer DA polisher, orange pad and the M10532 Ultra cut compound and M6332 Flagship Premium Marine Wax. The two pictures tell the story. Keep your DA on low speed always so it keeps the compound wet and cutting. Moderate pressure is all it took and no more than 3 passes to bring it all the way back. Meguiars Customer Service responds very well and suggested I use the M6332 for my sealing and protectant afterwards. I could not agree more. Steps are if you have a litte arm muscle and lots of oxidation just use a terry cloth wash cloth and the 105 for a first pass by hand. You will get a lot of oxidation off and keep your Compound Pad cleaner on your next passes. You only need about three 1/4 inch dots of the 105 on the Pad for your a buffing pass. Keep your pad clean as you go with a little nylon bristle brush. This keeps the pad cutting well. When the pad gets caked just wash it in the sink with Dawn Liquid and dry. Just apply and buff and in no time you will be freaking out how amazing the 105 works making your boat beautiful again. Also make sure you buy a pack of Microfiber Cloths. Use these to wipe off the 105 and the Marine Wax. It makes a beautiful finish. I am a total newbie on this but these simple products make great results. My congratulations to Meguiar for an excellent product that is easy to use and easy to wipe off and makes an amazing shine! ... show more

    • This is "THE ONE" - Miracle polish
I've always loved Meguiars products and I am quickly becoming accustomed to using there products exclusively throughout the automotive field. I used this product during the final colorsanding phases of a replacement fender job that I did on my own vehicle and absoloutely loved the results. Let it be known that you should still follow this up with M205 which is more of a final finishing polish that will take out anything this product leaves behind (which is minimal when done correctly). I give this product an excellent rating strictly because prior to using this product I used Turtle Wax brand polishing compound which was considerably more abrasive and left very hard to polish out swirls after its usage on a hood job. I finished the hood seperately and just wound up buffing the heck out of it with my buffer and Meguiars ultimate polishing compound which is also a good product but a little too fine in my opinion to take out wet sanding marks considerably. This product does the job quickly, cleanly, and probably most importantly allows for the least amount of time/work that you must do yourself. As with any job, especially in high in/out environments like a shop you will definitely want to make the most out of the time you have and this would be the product for you. Never again will I even consider turtle wax polishing compound in the final stages of color sanding. It's not worth the risk to have to reset which will be even more labor intensive, time consuming, and probably most importantly a much bigger hit in the wallet. For the average weekend warrior/beginner this is a great way to save yourself from making mistakes. Tips: I use this with the Meguiars 7000 ultra cutting foam (reddish) pad. I follow it up with the Meguiars 8000 (yellowish) foam pad and the meguiars m205. As with any body work I do I do a gentle had buff follow up with the 205 as well, (especially important for black cars). Results are outstanding as long as you have a little patience and TLC you won't go wrong. Keep your buffer steady, level and slow to moderate speed... You don't want the thing sanding, you want it buffing! ... show more

I haven't used any other cutting compounds because this has worked so well for me. I love how this can be used to get pretty bad marks out of the paint. If you put too much, it can be a pain with leaving a film residue on the finish. I don't love the price, but love the results lol.

    • Holy crow, this stuff is amazing
I'm 50 years old and quite honestly, there's very little I come across these days that amazes me with how well it works. Maybe it's the 30+ year career working in IT, or just experience gained over half a century of life, that leaves me expecting mediocrity or something that just barely suffices. I took it upon myself to not only buy a classic car but to strip and paint it this summer. I'm now working on paint correction, which means sanding the raw paint job smooth then compounding/polishing it up to a nice shine. Sanded a bunch of parts over the weekend up to 3000 grit, which left a rather dull appearance. Then I whipped out this compound, the next step in the process. I was expecting only a modest improvement as the parts were small so I was compounding them by hand, but boy was I wrong. After only a small amount of rubbing by hand I had a nearly mirror finish! I couldn't believe how quickly and how well Meguiars 105 works, especially considering I wasn't even using a machine to apply it. I know it contains microabrasives, and I know it's formulated to take out scratches, but still...I was floored by this stuff. The next day I applied 105 using a buffer to some larger parts and it put a mirror finish on them in no time at all. A follow-up with Meguiars 205 polishing compound honestly made very little (if any) noticeable improvement. Admittedly this is my first time painting a car and having to do appreciable paint correction so a lot of the process has been quite a learning experience. Maybe every rubbing compound works as well as Meguiars 105, but considering how much you get for the price and how well this stuff worked for me, it's absolutely a no-brainer to buy this stuff. This is probably the best stuff I have used to take out heavy swirls and deeper scratches with. I have used this with a rotary with a wool pad to get out heavy swirls and the random deeper scratches at the same time in about 4 or 6 passes at speed 1600 to 1800 RPM with some pressure on the first 2 or 3 passes and just the weight of the machine the last two or so. Used it today with a foam cutting pad on the rotary at a speed of 1400 to 1600 RPM used the same 4 to 6 passes as above. Got the swirls out and finished out pretty good. I have also used this with cutting foam pads on the dual action polisher and it removed heavy swirls very well. Just not so much with the deeper scratches like the wool pad did, at least not without doing more passes with heavy pressure. Still used the 4 to 6 passes with heavy downward pressure for the first 3 passes and light pressure on the last 2 or 3 passes. This actually finishes out pretty well this way with very little need to use a polish afterwards. Im pretty sure you could finish out very well with this even by using it with a polishing pad for real light swirls ... just finish of with light pressure for the last couple or few passes. Being that this compound uses SMAT abrasives (the abrasives dont break down) this allows the product to cut really fast and allow for fewer passes than compounds/products that use DAT abrasives (abrasives that break down with more passes). Which of course will save you time and effort. This does dust up using the wool pad quite a bit.. but that is usually from having too much loaded on the wool pad along with the heat generated. If after a few passes you feel like its a bit dry you can mist the paint area with a little bit of water to reactivate the compund and do a few more passes. With foam pads I dont have near as much dusting when used on the rotary ... on the dual action however it will dust pretty good. But the dust doesnt ever hurt the paint finish or the performance of the compound. This is a great compound to use in a variety of ways.
