The 345 lbs per shelf claim must have come from laboratory conditions with perfect monolithic test weights specially cast for the test, with technicians standing 50 ft. back, while holding their breath and clipboards. I would NEVER try to put anything like 345 lbs. on each shelf. Aside from that however, I think these are quite nicely made for "normal" household use (i.e. not holding V8 engines or cinderblocks). We have four of these now and I love them. You can adjust the height of all of the shelves so that it will fit your need. They arrive in sturdy boxes and each shelf and pole is individually wrapped to keep them from scuffing each other. We put heavy boxes on these shelves and they hold just fine. The casters are sturdy and two of them lock to keep your shelf from moving around when you don't want it to move. I do recommend having help to assemble. It is an easy assembly when you have two people, one person is going to get a little frustrated. It is possible but it will go a lot smoother with two people. I will probably order more of these shelves for our work shop. They are very versatile. I would also like to recommend the shelf liner. I purchased two sets of liners and they sit perfectly on the shelf preventing any small items from falling through the rack. ... show more

It's a nice metal rock, I do wish it was a made a little bit more sturdier. The shelves themselves supposedly hold a lot of weight and I'm using the bottom shelf for water bottles which does it up quickly in weight. It's a nice sturdy shelf for the price you'd pay a lot more for others. I got the wheel kit I don't plan on moving it around but I can if I have to that is the reason I got them. What I store a ton of weight on it probably not. It's only 18 in wide so that would make it very heavy and possibly top heavy keep your heavier items on the bottom and you should have no problems with the shelf. ... show more
