I have purchased a couple of brands of acrylic paint and Meeden is quickly becoming my go-to brand. I feel I am getting good quality product for my money. The paints are thick but not too thick and blend well. I love the coverage provided when I'm painting different layers.     • Great paint, but wish you could pick colors needed and only pay for that color. Not white as well

This is really good paint! However, I’m getting way too many white paints. Wish these came (in only colors needed) without the white paint added if people wish. They could reduce the price some, and I feel more would purchase. Still, great deal for heavy body paints.

Note, I seldom give 5 stars. Before I do so, I need a goodly amount of time using a product. In this case I've been testing this paint in various ways. First up - I really like the feel of the paint! It mixes well with other brands I have. I like the matte satin finish. Use propylene glycol, or a good liquid glazing, or retarding medium (I use Golden) and these paint are great for blended rendering. Out of the tube if you use a stiffer brush, you'll get nice brush strokes. Add in a bit of impasto gel - and get exceptional pallet knife work (I used USart Supplies impasto gel). Bottom line: this could be the best student grade paint I've ever seen. Price (in bulk sets), versatility with mediums, and mixability with other brands make these paints solid deal. I tested out of curiosity, but it's performance led me to buy more. They make it easy to do certain things. I work with several brands: Winsor Newton pro, and Galeria, Schmincke, Chroma Atellier, Liquitex Basics, Grumbacher Academy, Lukas, Masters Touch, Mont Marte Dimensions, and signature, Golden Open. I use paints to fit needs in a painting. I use the more expensive stuff were needed. My only added advice: some paints are good, even when not considered professional. Example: some would say Grumbacher Academy is high end student grade. It is not exceeded in smooth blending, by any professional brand I've tried. Find what suits you. Others will offer other advice. ... show more

Great color selection, mixes very well without becoming muddy, and holds a nice medium level of texture. I have had good results thinning this out for more viscosity, as well as adding modeling paste for a thicker texture. Colors are very pigmented and opaque and resemble shades of the same names from other sets. I will definitely be using this quite a bit and would recommend this set for a beginning or experienced artist in your life! ... show more
