This seems like a high quality oil paint at an affordable price. I used the whole tube resurfacing an old used canvas (since you can't gesso over oil), and it worked well for that purpose. I thinned it down with galkyd to speed the drying time. Fully opaque, only slightly more yellow than a "bright white" oil paint I used for a different canvas. I'd assume that's because of the linseed oil. Smooth, applies easily, a good oil paint. I'll buy again when I run out of the other white paint I already have. ... show more

The photo compares Meeden's Emerald Green to a top of the line Indigo (I did not have another emerald green to compare colors). The Emerald Green paint comes in a standard metal tube with a larger screw on cap that has 8 sides making it easier to reopen after using it and the cap gets stuck on. Much easier than the round caps, that you have to use a pliers to get off. The first thing I noticed was that the paint did not look glossy. This is not a bad thing, just a difference. In fact I think I prefer it as you can always add gloss but it is harder to take away, When I first dipped my brush I thought this is not going to work. It had a different consistency then what I was used to. It just seemed too dry. However to my pleasant surprise once I started to work the paint across the canvas it flowed nicely. Really no problems. I should also add that unlike many brands of oil paint there was no extra oil that came out. Maybe due to good quality emulsification in the factory? Next I compared it to a top of the line paint for two other factors, coverage and opaqueness . It actually equaled or beat the other name brand paint for both as you can see in the pictures. What I cannot tell you is how this will blend with other colors as I only have one tube, nor can I comment on how long this paint will last. As far as price I will give the point to Meeden, but only because the tube is 50ml compared to the average size tube at 40ml. That is 10ml more for the same price. This is the first time I've purchased this brand of oil paint. I've found Meeden oil paint to be equally as good as Gamblin or ZenART. The paint goes onto the canvas quiet smooth and mixes perfectly with other colors. I highly recommend Meeden oil paint to all my fellow artists.

A great size bottle especially since that is a color that seems to go it the fastest. Im new to the oil painting life but this seems to be a very nice quality paint. It blends with other colors very well and has a pretty smooth consistency. It has a slight smell but nothing too harsh, but like all oil paints, you should use it in an opened area or well ventilated area. ... show more
