The oil paint does not take excessively long to dry, especially when painting fat over lean. I believe it holds the tone for when it is diluted and is buildable. A tube this large is good for palette knife painting. I only wish I bought a more practical color and overestimated how much I’d use paynes gray. I’d go for a Naples yellow if I had a redo. I found this paint to be pretty close to Bob Ross firm oil paint. Very good quality and color. I have already bought several tubes of their paint and have never been disappointed. I usually use Windsor & Newton Titanium White. This paint isn’t as firm as theirs but is a decent alternative. Some of Meeden’s other colors do seem to be pretty oily though. ... show more

This Sap Green paint is a perfect green for mixing to create various foliage colors and it mixed nicely with my other brands. However, I did find it to be a bit gummy as opposed to creamy. The texture didn't hinder my ability to use the paint, it was just something I noticed. I'm sort of wondering if the gumminess has to do with the plastic tube. I have another set of paints that is in plastic tubes and those paints also tend to have a bit of a gummy texture. This Meeden brand is the only other paint that I have bought that comes in a plastic tube. None of my other brands that come in aluminum tubes have ever had a gummy texture. So, I'm starting to wonder if there is a connection between the plastic tubes and the texture of the paint. I'm not a professional painter and since the texture hasn't negatively impacted its performance, I'm sure I'll continue to use it. I have been painting for over 45 years and I often wonder how all those years of exposure to potentially toxic paints and various paint products has impacted my health. So, the fact that these paints are non toxic is a great selling point. Besides, when comparing price to performance, this paint is an excellent value. Meeden is quickly becoming my favorite brand to work with because their quality is decent and the price is right. This oil paint is lovely.
