  • A simple yet functional product.
Have been using the magnetic alarm for about a month now and have found it to be effective. The alarm is loud enough to be heard a few rooms away. Possibly too loud? I debated on wrapping a cloth around the speaker portion of the gadget to soften the sound a bit but haven't done so yet. Many patients needing monitoring can be quite creative at avoiding the alarm. It's common for them to unhook the clip from their clothing, or in some cases, they take the entire monitor with them. As the physical therapist said, they can be quite the problem solvers. In order to make the unit patient proof, I have made a few simple modifications. The unit is strapped to the headboard with velcro. Next came the duct tape. Duct taped over the on-off switch to keep patient from turning it off. Since the unit is silver, the tape doesn't show and the patient hasn't detected that the off switch is below the tape. Also had to resort to attaching it to the pajamas with a safety pin then duct tape the safety pin so it was too difficult to remove. Would recommend this product to others. ... show more

  • Awesome!!
Worked great. We got this for my mother in law who suffers from dementia and has mobility issues due to a stroke. Because of the dementia she doesn't know that she had a stroke and can't move the way she used to. She kept getting up and falling so we bought this to alert us when she was starting to move. Absolutely great item. Nice and loud. After some time of using the product she even started to realize that when the alarm went off it meant she had to stop. ... show more

  • Not recommended with pacemakers
The alarm worked well, was very loud, too loud but looked like it could be softened with something taped over the area. When I covered the front with my hand it was muffled. I liked how it described it can be triggered from different angles and I did test the clip on my shirt to make sure the clip was stronger than the magnet and it work great. Unfortunately, on the instructions inside the box it states: WARNING: Use of this product by persons fitted with an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker or difibrillator, may be potentially dangerous. Do not place magnet closer than 6" to implanted device. Check device manufacturer's information for more detailed instructions. So I returned it rather than take a chance and ordered a non-magnetic one instead. ... show more

  • Twice as Loud but 1/2 the Price of Cushion Type
Loud, loud & more loud! Took a star off for the attachment strap, it's very difficult to thread through the buckle. I replaced it with a small dog collar, which I have to wrap around some things twice to make fit, but at least it has a buckle that's easier to use. Only caution I have is that if you have pets the loudness will be hard for them, it's hard on my human ears & dogs have much more sensitive hearing. But if you need an alarm that will be heard from a couple of rooms away, the next floor up in your house, over the washer, when you're wearing headphones listening to music or audiobooks or outside & across the yard or inside the house - this is it. Priced so much less than the cushion style too, it's about half what they cost & at least 2 but maybe even 4 times as loud - at least it sounds that way to me!. Tip - clip to between the person's shoulder blades so they can't reach & unclip it themselves. Also allow enough slack for them to bend over if they drop something on the floor while sitting in a chair. Personally, I wish the on/off switch was easier to get to when I need to shut it down after it goes off, but it's made that way so the wearer can't do exactly that. Trust me, when it goes off, you WANT it stopped as soon as possible! So, yes, it does the job & serves it's purpose well. ... show more

  • Broken Hip
The nursing home my Mom is at uses antiquated equipment. It called a bed pad alarm. They are constantly going off and no one pays any attention to them. My Mom's went off on her way to the floor hitting her head, breaking her arm and wrist and hip, moving the cabinet that was bolted to the floor, I just left, she is in so much pain I can't stand it. The alarm is foolproof. It works great but while it's too late for my Mom in the last stages of her particular dementia, she won't fall again. The home would not provide the alarm so I had to purchase it. I've seen it advertised for 79.95. Perfect fast ship. ... show more

  • great idea does not really work.
it was a great idea but getting it attached to a person and the bed so that it worked was almost impossible. my grandfather was dying and he was in my home as I was caring for him. i had a baby monitor but i needed something to wake me up when he attempted to get out of bed. The first product was broke so I returned it. By the time i received the new one back he only live another day. we attached it to the end of his bed and his sock but all it did was pull his sock off. We would have tried more ideas but sadly he passed so I returned the item. ... show more

  • Wish I would have bought this sooner
Wish I would have bought this before Dad got up by himself while I was out of the room. Now that he is back home after breaking his hip we keep it on him all the time !! The cord is adjustable so it works no matter which chair he is in or his bed. Can be mounted on the wall, velcro to a table or strapped to the back of kitchen or wheel chair. It is very loud but that works great for us. He sure can't get up or out of bed without us hearing it now no matter where we are in the house. Makes for a much more restful night for us knowing he won't get out of bed & hurt himself while we are sleeping, ... show more

  • Great Buy!!!
If you have a person that someone needs to know when they get up, this would be a wise investment!!! We use this for my husbands grandmother who has alzheimers and is recovering from a hip replacement and she is very quick to get up (wether it is out of bed or out of her chair!) But this alarm will definetly let you know when they get up...It is very LOUD!!! The only thing I would add is maybe someway to attach the base to something soft (Like a recliner) as this is where alot of elderly people sit during the day. As it is we just sit the wheelchair behind the recliner and attach the base to the WC. This works fine! ... show more
