I'd been on a quest for a sheer matte sunscreen to replace the Coola Mineral Face Sunscreen Matte Tint as the Coola product was discontinued and the replacement (Coola Mineral Face Organic Sunscreen Lotion Sheer Matte, SPF 30) did not come even close to the original formula. I may have found it in this product. It glides on easily with a velvety feel yet the coverage is sheer. The matte finish minimizes shine (great for combination/oily skin). I prefer to apply this as a final step in my morning routine after first treatment essence, serum, and moisturizer.     • Great Look and Protection, but Caused Breakouts

We purchased this before a trip to Florida to protect my teenage son's face from the sun. He's dealt with severe acne that has finally cleared up, but still has a ton of hyperpigmentation, and we didn't want to make it worse with the sun. He wanted a tinted moisturizer type product so it didn't turn his face white, and the sheer tint looked great and actually evened out his skin tone quite a bit. He absolutely loved the way this product felt on his skin (silky), and it had a very natural "just like skin, but better" appearance. Unfortunately something in this product caused him to break out again. By the end of our week in Florida, his pores were super clogged again and he had new breakouts popping up all over his face. As soon as he stopped using this, his skin cleared up again. I have a hunch that he reacted to the dimethicone in the product, and since there are multiple dimethicone variations in it, that explains the extreme reaction. My son has very sensitive skin, so while this product didn't work for him, I could see it being a fabulous product for others with less sensitivities. It offered really great sun protection, his face didn't burn once, and it was easy to layer and reapply with no pilling or cakey look. All in all, I'd say it's a wonderful product, just not for super acne prone people with potential dimethicone sensitivities. ... show more

So I LOVE this product, its smooth texture, color and protection, and most of all, the brand itself. BUT - know that when you apply it, it will NOT absorb fully into your skin. It definitely sits on top, so if you're thinking of using it as a base for your foundation, you won't get your normal results. There's a slick, smooth feel to its texture which I like, BUT - the fact that it doesn't absorb fully into the skin means that you need to give it a lot more time before adding onto it with powder, etc, if that's your plan, and that throughout the day, if you wipe or scratch an area of your face, you'll notice you also wipe that area of the product. Still - I will continue to buy it for the protection and the lovely even tone it provides. ... show more

This sunscreen is my absolute favorite, because out of all tinted sunscreens I tried, it makes me look the youngest with its natural no make-up look. Despite the light coverage it covers redness just enough, smooths out textured skin and wrinkles, thanks to a great amount of silicone. But there’s one downside to it: it’s VERY sticky. Much stickier than other similar sunscreens like Elta MD or Sunbum. Compared to Elta MD, it’s not as thick, so it’s easier to spread evenly. Compared to Sunbum, it’s thicker, so it has better coverage and it’s a better shade for the summer. I did a more detailed comparison of MD Solar Science with Sunbum when reviewing Sunbum (my review of Sunbum has a photo so it’s easy to find). But stickiness is really annoying. I have to remember to put on a hair band when driving a car with open windows, otherwise my hair will all stick to my face. And still, some strands of my bangs would be sticking to my forehead throughout the day. ... show more

I made this purchase based off a dermatologist recommendation. It was said to be good for sensitive skin and even skin tone. It did even skin tone but it caused me irration, did not absorb and I can feel it sitting on my skin. Which after a while become uncomfortable. This company has something but would need to work out the kinks in order to have gold in a tube. ... show more
