    • Loud, kinda slow but good for a media server
It's WAY louder than what your probably used to. It's like the hard drive I remember in my first PC was , an old windows 3.1 machine with a real physical on off switch. It has a distinctive buzzz beer buzzz sound it makes when spoiling up. It has the click crunch sound like a 90's hard drive when reading and writing. I get a MAX of 170mbs and honestly it runs about 130MBS on transfers when writing from an SSD to this drive. Also IDC how you set your bios or windows if nothing writes to it for a while it will shut itself off then when you try to access the drive you have to wait a good 6 to 10 seconds for it to spool up and respond. .this kinda stuff is almost unheard of in 2024😂. It's like they put a 2024 MULTI TB platter in a mechanical drive made in the 90's . That being said it gets the job done I need it for. I have a ridiculous amount of movies and TV shows I store on this drive and another one like it. For just raw storage that you don't need to read or write from super fast and can stand the noise it's worth the $. I thought about getting a program (I rember one in the 90's😂) that will read and write to the drive every minute just to keep it from sleeping. I use this drive as a PLEX server and sometimes when I'm off my network trying to access it over the internet the drive being so slow to spin up gives an error so I have to log out and back into Plex, once it's spun up it works fine. ... show more

Defective on arrival. Placed on test fixture and would not spin up. I think the drives are seconds or other mfg rejects.
