Was not sure what to expect. They advise to only install in concrete, hard wooden massive brickwork wall. I managed to install in my vinyl siding over my recently installed mini splits. I’m very happy with the final result and product.

I bought this 39X78 Awning to cover our wood potting bench and wood pool cabinet from the weather. I intended to shorten this Awning to fit in the space I needed anyway, so I anticipated it was going to be a small job. To shorten this 39X78 Awning you must cut not only the Polycarbonate boards (4), but (2) other plastic connecting pieces and (2) front and (2) rear aluminum pieces. See my Photo of the pieces you'll need to cut. After I measured and cut what I needed to, it took me by myself about 30 mins to install on our wood shed wall. The Seller provided 3 1/4" bolts that I might of used if installing into Brick or stucco. I didn't use their bolts (too long) and instead used my own screws and washers. The instructions look like they were copied 1,000's of times, hard to tell orientation of certain parts. Also the instructions appear to show you assembling this Awning as one piece after you put it together. I installed it left to right, piece by piece. Not as one whole piece. Much easier. I made sure the brackets were level as I moved to the next bracket. However when I was finished, I noticed the Awning had a slight bow in middle. Not sure why. One last mention. Each polycarbonate panel is what they call 'twin wall' polycarbonate panels. UV rated and each row is hollow. So if the panels are not tight against the brackets when installed, they may get water inside of the panel when it rains. Overall I expect these panels should last a long time. ... show more

It came in a small box, not very heavy. The parts were easy to assemble , only for the the third part I would recommend to have a second person to help hold the awning to get the last panel into the groove. I than had the awning mounted by my handyman (did not have the heavy drill needed for a bearing wall) above my office window, looking out to the south, which usually gets very hot during the summer months. It makes a big difference. Not only does it look good and still keeps the room light, but it also withstands the hefty winds we sometimes get. I am very happy with it. ... show more

The instructions on putting this together were not great. It definitely takes two. A couple of screws were missing but we had of a very similar size so we made it work. It was pretty easy to install and hopefully it will keep the rain at bay.

    • Beware of large brackets and check clearance first.

Had to return will not work over my door. If ordering for a door you will need way more than 11” clearance over your door and the roof. This is due to the brackets are large and curve. If your door swings out it will rub if you don’t have enough clearance. The picture on the add shows above a door that is located on the eve side of a home (taller size of home following the pitch of the roof) My doors are just below the gutters, leaving me no room to install this product. Also beware that this seller is a 3rd party seller on Amazon and if you need to return the item you will have to pay the shipping to send it back. This goes against Amazon’s Guarantee policy. I had to contact Amazon to see how to get a free label to ship it back using the UPS store or Kohl’s drop off. ... show more

    • Leap of faith. Need more screws.

I like the look but when I opened the box and see was kind of disappointing. instructions were very vague. The only metal parts besides the 6 screws are the back and front of the assembly. Even the base are plastic. I have to add more screws to give some stability to the awning. Now if feel strong and is easy to move to the install location. I will give it a try to see how can take on snow and wind. Basically it will be a leap of faith. ... show more
