I recently received two different shades of this product: 10 Nude Flush and 35 Ruby Road. Also, please note that I am of darker BROWN skin color. The packaging of the lip colors were perfect! The size of the container accurately depicted how much lip color you were actually getting. Now let me walk you through color by color: 10 Nude Flush -- I wore this out on a casual day. It seemed to be a fairly complimentary color when I looked at its packaging. I was wrong. Matched with my skin tone, this color looked more like I had chapped lips than matte color. The color blended in and almost exactly resembled my natural lip color. I applied 1 coat, originally, then another after I noticed the lack of color change. I did not receive any particular comments throughout the day. The quality of the matte effect itself I would have to say was top class. On lighter skin, I believe this would look wonderful. 35 Ruby Road -- This color I wore on a night out. I applied a generous coat and then dabbed my lips on a piece of toilet paper to intensify the matte effect. I LOVE this color! It popped so perfectly and was not too bright of a red. It is also not a lip stain and was easy to remove in the case of a slight mistake when applying. This color lasted a good 4-5 hours before I reapplied, granted I was eating and drinking during those hours. Overall, I believe that t he matte effect was spot on for both colors. The Ruby Road looked best on me, however, on my fair skinned mother it was very flattering. I received this product to try, and while I'm not usually a big fan of "liquid" matte lip color, I was pleasantly surprised with the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid. First off, it is not so much a true liquid as more of a soft, mousse-like formula. It applies nicely, and it is easy to keep the product within the lip line thanks to its skinny, doe-foot style applicator. It is said that you can achieve two different looks by either applying one thin coat for a bold matte look, or two coats for a soft, creamy look. I tried this, and discovered that while applying one coat sparingly you have less of a chance of smudging, you really need two full coats to develop the true color. This lipcolor feels extremely comfortable on the lips - no dry, cracked lips - and as the color fades away it leaves a nice stain (especially the darker color). I received two shades, Nude Thrill and Rebel Red, and I am loving them both! The nude shade is perfect for everyday, while the red is bright and bold and perfect for adding some punch to your look. My only complaint is the scent..it's quite floral, like an old perfume...not really fruity, but sort of sweet. I prefer a true fruit or vanilla scent for lip products, but this floral fragrance is not horrible, just unexpected. Overall, I am very pleased with this product, and intend to purchase addition colors! Some have said this is more of a creamy lipstick than a liquid matte. I think It’s important to keep in mind the label. The directions state to apply a very thin layer for long lasting matte. I find that a have to run the applicator around the lip of the bottle to remove much excess lipstick prior to applying. I like one coat this way, putting it on thicker makes it highly transferrable. If you just wait a little while it will dry when a thin coat is applied and still has great color. The rebel red is extremely bold! I loved the nude flush, it was close to my natural lip color with much more pink for a fun look. Another thin coat will provide more of a moussey/creamy look. A thick coat is not necessary to achieve this look and will actually stay wet that way and come off on anything that touches your lips at all. This smells nice, almost no scent, and will last for several hours, eventually fading away to a light stain.
