I’m a 39-year-old grandma (yes, that’s real) with a disabled vet body and a face that’s basically a scrapbook of bad decisions and genetics. Massive pores, fine lines, wrinkles, sunspots, chicken pox scars—you name it. If skin could qualify as a “fixer-upper,” mine would be listed as “great potential, needs full renovation.” The feel: This primer surprised me. It’s smooth, dry, and powdery—like cornstarch, baby powder, or one of those mythical moisturizers that doesn’t leave you looking like you fell asleep in a pizza box. It doesn’t suffocate your skin, and that’s a win. The look: The clear formula is a blessing and a curse. On the plus side, there are no harsh lines if you miss a spot—so you won’t walk around looking like your face stopped at the border of your jawline. On the downside, maybe it’s because it’s clear that it doesn’t quite bulldoze my pores the way I’d like. Performance: It’s good—better than plenty I’ve tried—but if I’m honest, Rimmel’s Stay Matte still holds the crown for me. That one grips harder and makes my skin behave longer.
