Mattress is very nice quality, very thick and very well made. only reason for 4 stars is that the tuft style makes the whole thing lumpy so not comfy although pretty. I would recommend this as one whole flat piece for maximum comfort without the tufts.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Looks nice but extremely uncomfortable. I was hopeful because of the thickness but the foam is chunky and very hard. I’m hoping after some use it softens and becomes more comfortable. It looks good though. It’s also extremely heavy so we have a hard time folding our futon back to couch mode. We have to pretty much remove the mattress, fold the futon and put the mattress back on. Not very convenient. It’s comfortable enough to sit on in couch mode but not so much in bed mode. Very lumpy and hard Update: we have slept on this for 3-4 weekends and it’s still very uncomfortable and a button has already fallen off. Barely a month old. I do not recommend and am reducing a star due to durability Update #2- all buttons are now off making this absolutely worthless in couch mode. The foam pieces shift so much that it’s really saggy and doesn’t stay on futon frame. I 100% regret this purchase and wasted $180

This futon mattress is super comfortable — exactly like the photos, and it actually arrived a few days early, which was a nice surprise. It fluffed out really well after about a day and feels great to sit or sleep on. The only downside is the smell. It has a strong, funky odor that just won’t go away no matter what I try (airing it out, baking soda, you name it). If it weren’t for that, this would easily be a 5-star purchase.

Great quality for a futon. Excellent for a spare bedroom, studio apartment, etc. Just a warning; after receiving it you cannot sit or sleep in it for 48 hours. There are instruction to fluff it up and in that 48 hour span the mattress will fill up to its full capacity as shown in the picture. Once you wait it will be nice and plump.

This mattress is EXTREMELY fluffy once it’s fluffed out. So nice! Absolutely love it. So happy I went with this item. I was hoping it would be as fluffy as the listing picture and I was no disappointed. The material is very thick and very well stitched. Paired this item with the Kodiak Futons Monterey Futon Frame, in Barbados finish.

I looked at a lot of different futon mattresses and I am glad I went with this one. It fluffed right out after a couple days and is quite comfortable. I do recommend you shake it out as much as you can and work on the lumps straight out of the box, and so far it stays in place and doesn't slide.
