This is the 4th car seat I've tried (a couple of them were gifts), and this Maxi-Cosi one is the best one yet (I am comparing my experiences to the Cosco Mighty Fit 65 DX, the Britax B-Lively Travel system car seat, and the Graco 4Ever 4-in-1 car seat). Also, I tested them on my 10-month old boy. Pros: • Plush seats -- Out of all the car seats I've tried, the Maxi-Cosi's were the softest and plushiest. This package comes with additional seat and back cushions, but I didn't need them. • Cleaning convenience -- All car seat manufacturers should enact a mandatory requirement to allow the fabric/material to be easily removed. Babies are always leaking/gushing liquids, so it's very helpful to be able to clean the car seats. All the coverings on the Maxi-Cosi are easily removable, including the shoulder straps. • Ease of strap usage -- The center clip is magnetized, and it's very simple/easy to take on and off, including the red-button seat belt. The other car seats I've used needed somewhat more pressure to release their straps. Additionally, the harness holders conveniently keep the straps out of the way, so you don't have to dig through your kid's back or butt to grab the buckles. • Neck comfort -- This is my favorite feature...While using other car seats, my kid's neck always craned/hung down when he fell asleep in the car, but not with the Maxi-Cosi! The design and recline level of this car seat has my kid's head resting backward comfortably. Cons: • Packaging -- I'm not sure if it was just me, but my car seat came somewhat dirty...After opening the box, the car seat was not wrapped in plastic or anything else (which I suppose is a good thing, environmentally-speaking), but there were several scuffs, while the fabric was somewhat littered with cardboard debris. Like I mentioned earlier, I was easily able to toss the fabric in the wash, but it was somewhat alarming when I first saw the condition of the seat, and it looked used. • Size -- The Maxi-Cosi is larger and slightly heavier than all the other car seats I've tried. I had to move up my front passenger seat to accommodate. • Cup holder -- Only one?? Not that my kid is double-fisting milk bottles, but having 2 cup holders is convenient for putting random toys and whatnot. Many other car seats in this price range have 2 cup holders. • Price -- Cost is more of an understandable issue. This car seat is definitely more premium than the other ones I've tried, but it's still a concern. Installation was also simple, and it was stable in the car.     • New version of the recalled Maxi-Cosi Pria 85...
I think this is basically Maxi-Cosi's replacement for the recalled Maxi-Cosi Pria 85 Max. This new version doesn't go to 85 pounds as the Pria 85 was initially rated for. Maximum weight in this car seat is 65 pounds in forward-facing configuration. But, like the Pria 85 Max, this car seat is able to contain infants beginning at 4 pounds.. Maxi Cosi recalled the Pria 85 because the US government determined that weights above 65 pounds were unsafe in the Pria 85. Use of the Pria 85 remained permitted with children under 65 pounds, but the potential for head injury in children above 65 pounds caused the recall. Like the Pria 85, this is a top-notch child seat. OK, right off the bat, this is still a wildly capacious car seat, going all the way from 4 to 65 pounds. This seat has a few notable features beyond its rather bougie overall build quality. First, the straps can be adjusted upward without rethreading using just one hand. Second, the covering material is easily removed and can be washed. This, of course, is not a luxury, but a necessity, when you make a car seat in a color named "night black." Third, Maxi-Cosi is proud of the clips on the sides of the seat that will hold the harness out of the way to the side when you're placing your child in the seat. It's a good idea, but it requires placing the harness there before your child climbs in, not a practice that's easy to make a habit of for you or for your child... Fourth, there's a WIDE range of weights that can fit in this seat. With the seat facing backward, it's possible to go from 4 to 22 pounds. If you want, you can place the seat in a forward-facing position when your child is between 22 and 40 pounds, though you must use reclining position number 2 when you do so. Between 40 and 65 pounds you must place the seat facing forward and use recline position 1. Maxi-Cosi's Pria Sport version of this seat (non-Max) begins at a minimum of 14 pounds and costs about $10 less than this model. The Maxi-Cosi Pria Max 3-in-1 costs $350 and contains a booster seat that allows you to continue using the seat beyond 65 pounds all the way to 100 pounds. It also has two cupholders, but is otherwise similar in build quality and abilities to this model. ... show more

    • A Great Car Seat That Will Last
This is a great car seat. You can use this from birth to 65lbs, which in some cases is well past the need (height limit) for a car seat. So rather than having to purchase an infant car seat and later a forward facing toddler car seat, this is a one stop shop so to speak. It's got great padding so even the smallest of babies seem comfortable and supported, a problem that cheaper seats tend to ignore. It was relatively easy to install using the included directions to make sure the correct recline is chosen. Additionally, the buckles are nice and easy to use as advertised. One of the best features is the easy to remove cover which allows for much easier washing than other car seats I've used. My only wish is that it also converted to a booster seat. But at the price, I think being able to use it for 5+ years is well worth it and booster seats are much cheaper. ... show more

    • Nice Comfortable Car Seat
Nice car seat that can be adjusted for use with a newborn through 65 pounds. It seems build well enough to last a child that long. Nice cushioning for the child in all modes. I ordered this for a three year old grandchild, to keep in my personal van. It was easy for me to install, and that's saying a lot since I find most modern car seats confusing. This one is easy to sit my grandchild in and adjust to fit her perfectly. I feel like my grandchild is very well protected in this seat. It's very solid and surrounds her. She loves it as well and never complains about being in it. It has great supportive sides, that adjust quickly and easily to her height, to cushion her head if she wants to nap. ... show more
