This product allowed for flexibilty in options and choosing a faucet for my old clawfoot tub shower. I was able to adjust to proper hole width and it added about 4in to height of shower.

I bought this to go with the beautiful shower/tub faucet assembly from this same company because I have a tub and was not installing in the wall. It was Recommended in the reviews and description of the faucet plumbing. The description says NTP plumbing. “ The shower arm connections are NPT (National Pipe Thread), which has a slightly tapered thread. Teflon tape is used with the threads to lubricate them and help the threads deform and create a seal. IPS (Iron Pipe Straight) threads require gaskets or o-rings to properly seal.” This quote Is what I found on a plumbing web site. This kit comes with the gaskets and everything else you will need to install it. I also bought extra lock washers/nuts per the instructions from this companies store. If your water supply pipe from the wall is NTP you will need a coupler that is 1/2 female NTP on one side and IPS (aka G”) 1/2 female in the other. If your pipe is IPS then no adapter is needed. I love the quality and look of this extension. It will fit almost any tubs openings, from tiny claw foot holes to wider designer tubs holes. I recommend it. NOTE: These are NOT clawfoot bathtub faucet adapters per se, and they are more for kitchen or lavatory faucets. Going by some other reviews, some issues I found are known. One point is customers don't understand is this is NOT a clawfoot TUB MOUNT adapter. These "L" shape adapters expected to screw into a FEMALE 1/2-14 NPT rough-in that is IN THE WALL (ie a NPT drop ear) of the room and NOT the tub.. The adapters will fit ANY faucet with G-3/4 connections. The escutcheons are no good. They do not have any way to make the part stay put; like tabs on the 1/2 inch hole to grip the pipe, or like on better ones, an o-ring to grip the pipe. As some reviewers have stated, the G3/4 threads are too big and do NOT thread on easily. Thread them on VERY carefully since the finish is easily marred and the part can go on crooked causing it to jam. Threads are poorly machined evident by lack of a beveled edge at the start of the thread; both on the G3/4 and 1/2 inch threads. The 1/2-14 threads are NPS and NPT. Which means they will NOT seal to a female NPT drop ear. YOU will need TWO 1/2-14 G1/2 brass faucet flange nuts for each elbow ($6 on Amz) and then the faucet can be clamped to a sink's wall; that is the vertical high back of a stainless sink, etc. This does NOT attach to a building's wall. To attach to a wall, get a different set of elbows that have a FEMALE 1/2-14 NPT and then use a nipple to reach the drop ears inside the wall, or get a 1/2 "faucet foot extension" about $17 a pair on Amz. Finally, the picture shows the escutcheons WITH tabs to snug the escutcheon to the pipe. The escutcheons that came with the parts DO NOT HAVE TABS. ... show more

Was great to bridge the gap with the offset in faucet knob length as we have a old tub that the holes are not far enough apart on. Unfortunately our plumbing is 3/4 on the water connection end in so still had to put a hex bushing on and it doesn't sit flush against our tub holes, buy atleast it fits through them now. Nothing wrong with this product just that our plumbing is not the 1/2 inch. ... show more
