    • Great for surface cleanup and etching
I was a bit hesitant to buy this product because of the various negative reviews. However, after trying it I can say that I can recommend it. Getting set up is pretty simple- hook it up to your modelling compressor (use the included hose if required), put a bit of media into the cup, set pressure between 30-45 psi and start blasting. I used this on an aluminum shift knob for a car that I was restoring, and after sanding down the extremely weathered surface to a mirror shine, I used this to add a frosted texture to the surface. To be honest, with the stock media it worked a bit too aggressively and really did sandblast the surface, so I tried using baking soda instead and that gave a much softer finish (the included media is much better at removing actual rust spots from paint chips on steel, etc.). The other thing I did was ditch the mask it came with and instead used a proper 3M N95 respirator. I do wish that it came with actual instructions. I had to double check specs online, because in the box it had a generic "here is how to use an airbrush" leaflet that Master includes with all of their guns. I think the key to success with this is to hook it up to the proper air compressor, and to make sure that the incoming air is clean and dry. The kit includes a line with a moisture trap, but I simply hooked this up to my TC-320 air compressor that has one built in and got up in running in two minutes with no clogging or other issues. ... show more

    • Great little sandblaster
This little sandblasting airbrush works! I had some rust spots/rock chips on a hood that I was going to repaint, but I wanted to remove all the rust at the bottom of the paint chips first. I combined this with #12 glass beads for a blasting medium, and the results were amazing! The rust blasted right off, and the surrounding paint stayed intact. Just a few seconds of blasting per spot removed all the rust. Better than even my optimism was expecting. The only caveat about this airbrush is the air line connector fitting threads. They are 1/8" British standard pipe thread(BSP). You'll need an adapter to join it with NPT connectors that are the standard in the US. I got a set of 2 here of Amazon for 8$. As other reviewers have mentioned, the nozzle gets clogged frequently, even when using #12 glass beads. The first 5-10 minutes of blasting on aluminum went fine, but then the clogging started. This requires you to empty the hopper, plug the nozzle with your finger and try to reverse blow air through the nozzle, or to use a blowgun to blast air through the nozzle and the hopper. Even then, sometimes the clog gets cleared and sometimes not. Hopefully, after all that, you will see grit dribbling out of the nozzle. A blasting job that should have taken 12 minutes ended up taking 45 minutes. Even then, I wasn't satisfied with the results (don't think the surface was peened sufficiently - which was confirmed when I did the phosphoric acid conversion treatment). I decided to return the item and bite the bullet and get the Paasche instead, which costs twice the price. Very few complaints about clogging on that product. ... show more

    • Pretty nifty
I don’t use this very often but when I do I enjoy it. I use it for frosting and decorating drinking glasses. Works excellent. You have to refill often but that’s to be expected.

    • Complete waste of money
Bought this as a mini sandblaster, as it was advertised as such. First there was no adapter to connect to an air compressor. Called the manufacturer, and they offered no help, so had to travel to a few hardware stores to find something suitable. Once hooked up, it ran for a half hour, then wouldn't stop the air flow with the push button on top. The spring pin inside was sticking, so all the included oxide compound flew out as soon as air was attached. To make matters worse, the tip also continued to clog, so spent most of the next hour having to take apart and try and blow out the tip with a separate air gun. After this, it just completely stopped operating at all. I enjoy using Amazon for many products, but this is one I wish now I would've avoided all together. Just a complete fiasco. Beware to anyone else considering this. ... show more
