Been running this HEI distributor for over a year now, on my first Chevy small block gen 1 build, haven't had any issues yet, that I'm aware of. Definitely be sure you feed the distributor a clean 12 volt source. I'm going thru a relay, so the key is controlling the relay, and the power to the distributor is coming directly off the battery thru a fuse and thru the relay. DO NOT USE A BALLAST RESISTOR. That's how these HEI distributors get burned up. I've also been using the plug wires that came with it. Haven't had any issues with those either. They are however a tad too long to my liking. Also, these types of distributors are much larger than regular points distributor. One of the intakes i was going to use was unable to be used with this distributor as it was hitting on of the air ducts on the intake. I have a regular Bosch tachometer hooked up to the tachometer output wire of the distributor (green wire) and it reads really well and accurate.

Excellent quality.. Worked correctly right out of box.. The 8 mm spark plug wires are too long for small block chevy.. easily shortened (If you have the correct CRIMP pliers/Wire stripper) Engine started on first crank (with new spark plugs)..Would buy this kit again...(suggest to check all HEI mounting screws, as one was loose)

Distributor works well. The wires are trash. Bought this several times with the same result. Throw the wires away.

This distributor didn’t work straight out of the box. The pick-up is cracked and the wire terminals aren’t crimped enough to make contact. Not worth the purchase, spend a few dollars more and get a quality product.
