Description

A Martin Rosewood Dreadnought Built for Performance The Martin D-16E Rosewood acoustic-electric guitar is a wonderful option for the performing guitarist who loves the warm, full tone and robust projection of rosewood topped with spruce. The guitar's quality construction — which includes scalloped, forward- shifted X bracing — elicits a sound that is powerful and balanced, with excellent note definition. It complements the human voice beautifully, yet is perfectly at home as a solo instrument or layered into a track. And the onboard Fishman Matrix VT Enhance NT2 pickup system amplifies that gorgeous tone flawlessly when plugged in onstage. You'll also find the large dreadnought body and 25.4" scale length great for fingerpicking. But whether finger- or flatpicked, live or unplugged, the Martin D-16E Rosewood is a sheer delight to play.Optimized playability The D-16E Rosewood's neck is carved to Martin's Modified Low Oval profile with Performing Artist taper that was designed

  • Well built, comfortable, but pricey and not very big-sounding
Size: Right Color: Natural
First off, this Martin D-16E sounds really good. It felt great in my hands. I really liked the neck shape. It was pretty full sounding, but not especially loud. I had tried a Taylor AD 27E previously. It was far louder than the Martin. I have a 1973 Guild D-40, and I judge all guitars compared to her. So, I ended up returning the Taylor and the Martin. I have a brand new Guild D-40E on order now. I guess I’m just a Guild man. The Martin D-16E is not a bad guitar, just pricey for what you get, and not very big sounding, in my opinion. ... show more

  • Nice sound
Size: Right Color: Natural
The neck warped I don’t know why, maybe because the very young wood.

  • Love the deep low tone!
Size: Right Color: Natural
I have quite a few Martins and this one is no exception. The action is beautiful and the depth is amazing. This would be great for those who finger pick or play solos. Strumming wise it takes a light hand to make it sound good. If you play heavy handed you won't get all the sound this guitar is capable of. I bought a hard shell case for it as this is an expensive guitar that needs to be stored properly and at proper humidity levels, etc. If you store it the wrong way the neck will bend and you will need to have it set up again. ... show more

  • D-16e
Size: Right Color: Natural
Love the low oval and tone of the guitar. When compared to my 20 year old hd-28 it is somewhat lacking to my ear in what I’d call singularity of notes when strumming because it is such a guitar that I think would be best suited for solos or fingerpicking. You’ve got to play it softly to get a good sound strumming for me, but I am heavy handed. The tonal quality is up to par to most American made martins. For me the price hue it sounded and played and the woods… it’s true what they say “a poor mans d-28” as far as that goes but by no means for most is $1700 cheap. I expect great things from this and if you love the Martin sound go for it! I look forward to hearing this thing 40 years down the line but have no problem enjoying it now. ... show more

  • Not for everyone
Size: Right Color: Natural
I bought a new one month ago, still can’t adapt to the “low oval” neck, otherwise perfect guitar. I had it professionally set up. I don’t like the low oval, not for me so it will be traded or sold.
