  • GREAT…if you don’t mind the long recharge time…Zzzzzz
Color: Black M88
The Marbero M88 is a compact power bank that’s perfect for life on the go (e.g. travel, backpacking, exploring, etc.). Packing a capacity that exceeds 20,000 mAh, it can easily power-up essential devices like cell phones, laptops, and portable lighting (e.g. rechargeable lanterns). Yet this sleek power bank looks distinct compared to most in the >20,000 mAh capacity range. Indeed, unlike its more boxy peers, the M88 boasts a thin profile that’s just under 1.2 inches in depth. Combine that with a small footprint and light weight, and the fact is, you won’t find a power bank that travels better than the M88. And if that’s not enough to entice you, there’s even an AC outlet for wired electronics that lack charging ports. In my opinion, the Marbero M88 is a winner, with just a few blemishes that might be cause for concern. ADVANTAGES * One of the thinnest power banks that’s available with 1) a capacity >20,000 mAh and 2) an AC outlet. The depth dimension is only 1.2 inches…that’s thin! * Small footprint @ 6.8 (L) x 5.9 (W) inches. * Light weight @ 1 lb 13 oz. * Low price @ $2.50 / 1,000 mAh (with the 40% coupon). The price is as low as any competitor that has SIMILAR CAPACITY AND FEATURES. Beware reviews that compare this “apple” to other “oranges”. * Good selection of charging ports. NOTE: The QC 3.0 ports (both A- and C-types) will only “FAST” charge devices that support the QC 3.0 protocol. The same is true for the charging wire. This is to be expected, so don’t think the ports are defective if you are using a non-compatible device (or wire) and it won’t FAST charge. For example, devices like the iPhone (that use the PD protocol instead) will NOT FAST CHARGE. To be clear, the QC 3.0 ports will “work” with an iPhone or other non-compatibles, it just WON’T FAST CHARGE. There’s been way too much confusion around this issue, so that’s why I’m belaboring the point. If you’re not sure if your device is compatible with QC 3.0, here’s a link to a comprehensive list: https://www.qualcomm.com/content/dam/qcomm-martech/dm-assets/documents/Accessory_List_QCOM_Quick_Charge.pdf If your device is not compatible, you may still experience slightly better charging speed via the QC 3.0 ports. For example, with my iPhone SE (2020) I was getting 5V/1.5A/7.6W via QC 3.0 port and only 5V/0.95/4.8W via one of the regular USB-A ports (USB 1). It’s not much, possibly even unnoticeable. But I wanted to mention just the same. * Solar panel friendly. * FAA compliant for carry-on baggage. * Trickle charge mode for smaller devices with low power draw demands. Although I haven’t confirmed the function of this advertised mode. * Helpful Instruction Manual. LIMITATIONS * Options for re-charging the power bank on the grid are both limited and SLOW. Of course, the wimpy 15V/1A charging adapter doesn’t help. Not sure if using a charger with more amps would help, or if the device is simply wired to only draw 1A. Regardless, this “feature” could prove to be a headache if expectations are not kept in check. Just plan on recharging overnight. * The charge status indicator uses bars instead of actual percentage. Can I assume 1 bar = 25%? Even if it does, I’m still in the dark because 1 bar could indicate 25% remaining, or 1% remaining. Especially if I didn’t witness the drop from 2 bars to 1 bar, and use my uniquely humanesque ability to track (relative) time. * Some may flag the modified sine wave characteristic of the AC output to be a limitation. I will list here for those folks. However, I personally don’t think it’s a limitation because the power bank wasn’t designed to run motor-driven appliance, like a refrigerator. The capacity is simply too low. It’s like trying to use a child’s plastic hammer to drive a steel nail into wood. Wrong tool! But don’t blame the tool, blame the person that would even try. Bottom line, you may find a power bank with faster recharge times at a competitive price, but you won’t find one (with similar specs) that’s THINNER or LIGHTER. For me, being thin, light and packing small is critical. And as long as it delivers the spec power of 24,000 mAh, I’ll take the Marbero M88 over the competition any day of the week. However, I just hope I don’t find myself curled-up next to an outlet at the airport for 8h! NOTE: The first power bank I received had a defective AC outlet; e.g. when I plugged in a device the AC indicator light flashed green for a second, but then immediately extinguished. Even with no device plugged in, the AC indicator light flashed ON, then instantly OFF. I was going to write a negative review then and there, just like another reviewer did who experienced the exact same symptom (that reviewer even posted a video, as I was going to do). But I decided instead to return the defective unit and let the replacement guide my review. And here I am. The point I’m trying to make is that this line of power banks appears to have an inventory of at least two units that have shorts in the AC outlet circuitry. And possibly more, so be advised. The good news is that I requested a replacement from Amazon that arrived in two days. And the replacement has (so far) performed flawlessly. I would not hesitate ordering this item again, I have that kind of confidence in the product. ... show more

  • DC input is smaller than for solar panels charging
Color: Black M88
I just took it. However, since I have previously used other power banks of this type, which I charge with solar power, I have a complaint about the manufacturer that did not include a DC cable, because the DC input of the power bank is smaller than the standard one (3.5mm/1.35), so now I have to order a cable with 3.5 mm male and 5.5 mm female because all solar panels have DC 5.5 mm. A big miss indeed. ... show more

  • Great for camping and small devices
Color: Green
I have bought two of these little guys in the past year and not because it stopped working. The first one I bought worked so well (I ended up giving it to someone) I got another one to be shipped across the country so my buddy and I could take it camping with us. Can it sustain constant appliance usage like a hot plate? Not unless you’re able to recharge it often. I’m curious to try out the solar panel attachment for this purpose. It has a few different input options (regular outlet plugin, USB, C port). We use this for non electric camp sites and it’ll get us through about 4 days of recharging camera batteries, 2 uses of an air pump, 1 speaker, and 2 phones. Keep in mind not every device is constantly plugged in, so there’s lots of time in those 4 days where it’s not being used. It also has a great light for night time use. You can charge it in the car; doesn’t take long to recharge (an hour maybe?). Eventually I’ll get one that I’ll keep for myself. My only worry was that it got a little too hot during the day, so we switched to night charging instead. ... show more

Color: Black M88
The media could not be loaded. I was excited when I purchased this device. I had recently gone to a competition with my students and I saw that they were using a power bank to charge four laptops, including mine. I knew I had to have one, so I ordered this product on Amazon, to charge my laptop on the go. Unfortunately it did not meet up to expectations. I will try and return it. ... show more
