  • "mint" open box missing accessories
Style: Cinema 70S
****UPDATE**** Product gets 5 stars, the seller gets 4 stars. World Wide Stereo made it right and offered a partial refund to cover the cost of purchasing the missing accessories. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again and would recommend them to others. I do feel however that they should look in to how to do a better job in ensuring open box items have the correct description indicating weather or not all accessories are included. Communication and issue resolution was easy and painless, which is as it should be. It looks fine, it works fine, it sounds fine. I bought an open box unit listed as "mint" from the seller World Wide Stereo, everything was supposed to be included, all accessories etc. I did not receive a power cable or calibration microphone. I reached out to Amazon CS and was told to contact Marantz and was provided with their contact information, all well and good. However since the missing pieces were promised as part of the open box description World Wide Stereo stated were included, I have reached out to them for assistance. If/when I hear back from them I will update this review. I have used and been very satisfied with Marantz (and Denon for that matter since they are sister companies) for years. And like I said the unit looks, functions and sounds exactly as I expected it to. The 2 star review is intended for the seller World Wide Stereo, whom incidentally enough I have also purchased from in the past with zero issues. I hope they make this right. I do have extra power cords and calibration mics laying around from previous purchases, but that's not the point here. If it was clearly stated in the open box description that these items were missing, my expectations verses the money spent would have been more aligned. I am hopeful that I can update this to a 5 star review within the next day or three. ... show more

  • Pretty Happy
Style: Cinema 70S
Have had it about a month now and I can honestly say this is the best piece of audio gear I have ever owned. Setup was a breeze and its sound is fantastic. You can't find a feature set this unit has at this price point or at least I couldn't. I bought this because it has pre-out's thinking I was gonna use them but haven't. It sounds way better than the pre-amp / amp combo it replaced. Plus it did away with all that cabling. My setup is a simple 5.1 and it's likely that's all it will ever be given the room that it's in. Haven't hooked up the antenna's because bluetooth and wifi are not needed. Nor is the app or a HEOS login so I can't say anything about those.. I did use an ethernet cable to check for firmware updates and the unit reported that the firmware was up to date. To sum it up, all sources sound really good. Bluray's, the computer, the Apple TV, the Tuner, have never sounded better. Turn this unit on and it disappears. I'm pretty happy. ... show more

  • A phenomenal receiver for Dolby Atmos, plenty of power
Style: Cinema 70S
This is the new "brain" of my Klipsch home theater system and wow does it perform! I'm upgrading from a ~10 year old Denon receiver and even my friends and family who aren't self-described audiophiles were amazed at the wraparound audio. Definitely take the time to set up the microphone (included) and calibration process. Setup: 2x Klipsch RP 600M II (L&R) 1x Klipsch RP 500C II (Center) 2x Klipsch RP 500SA II (L&R Ceiling Bounce) 2x Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Heritage (RL, RR) The ProMedia speakers are definitely the weakest point of the system given that they are intended to be used as computer speakers, but the side channels are absolutely worth it. Eventually I plan to add two subwoofers (which the Marantz Cinema 70S supports) to complete the system. ... show more

  • Quite Decent Processor, ~ Over-Tarrifed Quite Decent Processor, ~ Over-Tarrifed

The Marantz Cinema 70s suits my purpose Quite Well, & was an Easy Setup. Purchased because smaller SIZE fit in position with other equipment. Used as AV-Preamp, for TV Only. The Marantz internal Amp & speaker connections are Not Used. (^) Being a replacement for an Old*Processor, in use because my *newer one was destroyed by a PS-Powerplant Failure & overcook. THE CINEMA 70s delivers a Notable Improvement in Both Multi Channel AUDIO and in picture quality. • Great receiver. Network control needs work
Style: Cinema 70S
Sound is phenomenal and so is video quality. Setup is easy and controls are plentiful. Only downside (reason for the 4 stars) is the network control. The app often stops controlling the unit for some functions and misreports its status. Easily remedied with the supplied remote but… Even comes with wire labels and a cardboard “tripod” for the setup mic. And the price was excellent. ... show more

  • Fantastic Sound
Style: Cinema 70S
I have been on the fence about trying out a Marantz receiver for many years now. I started out with an older Onkyo, then upgraded to a Yamaha, then to Denon x1300w which this cinema 70s has replaced. The difference is absolutely night and day. Setup was incredibly simple out of the box. I paired the receiver with an Emotiva BasX 3-channel amplifier for the LCR channels. 160w into 8ohms with even more into 4ohms. My system is comprised of Triangle Genese Trio bookshelf speakers with the Voce center channel, two Klipsch in ceiling speaker for rear surround, and two 15" klipsch r-15sw. Absolutely crystal clear sound. Everything sounds good. Now for the actual use of the receiver, the software and menu navigation is very quick and responsive. Initially there was some screen blacking out when using the sound field changer. That seems to have gone away somehow so no issues now. You can have two presets for your audyssey room correction settings, which (if you're like me and cycle through speakers here and there) is pretty fantastic for plug and play goodness. The size of the receiver maybe shorter than the average AV unit, but it is just as wide. Heat dissipation seems fine due to not as high of a draw in terms of power, which a set of klipsch speakers were basically singing with. All in all, a great AVR for those who prefer simplicity and like their equipment separate in terms of processing and power. ... show more

Extremely pleased with the sound and picture quality. The remove is solid, and I like the backlit function. Very user friendly to install, setup was a breeze. Using the pre-outs for 5.2 with an Emotiva XPA-5 Gen 3, and 2 SVS subs. Receiver will power two outdoor patio speakers. Video upmixing looks great with the Sony X98. ... show more

  • No Marantz Warranty
Style: Cinema 70S
In September of 2023, I purchased a Marantz Cinema 70s AVR from one of Amazon's partners via this website. About a week ago, the headphone jack on the AVR quit working, which is a problem for me because the AVR is located in my bedroom. In any event, Marantz denied my claim for a warranty repair on the ground that the vendor (Amazon's partner) is not an authorized Marantz dealer. I have to accept some of the blame because I did not ask Marantz or Amazon about the vendor's legal status. On the other hand, neither Amazon nor the vendor disclosed the fact that I would not be receiving a Marantz warranty with my purchase. Had I known that fact, I would have purchased the AVR elsewhere. As the old saying goes, Caveat Emptor. ... show more
