Well made, nice hammer. So this works ok. If it is a difficult log to split with an axe, it'll be difficult with this to. I still used a 20lb sledge for some knotted twisted logs. It was not easy. Max sized logs were difficult to remove but not impossible. However with an ideal size, straight grain log, it's much more convenient and easy to split than using an axe or hatchet...3-4 hits with the included 3lb did the trick with ideal logs. Easy to do from a chair. I prefer to split my wood up small to use indoors and in smaller fire pits like the solo stove. This is not a bad purchase, just a tad over price. If you like to build fires, you can't go wrong with this product. I have one for my house and bought one as a gift. Easy to use and makes cutting kindling a breeze. Very sturdy and looks like it will last a lifetime. Highly recommend!

This makes chopping kindling fun instead of a chore. You do need to make sure that the logs will fit into the opening. Mount your splitter with room on the bottom to allow for longer pieces of wood to go through or they will get hung up. I love it.

Works exactly as expected for making kindling out of chopped wood. Seems solidly crafted. Works best when mounted to a secure base. The only challenge has been when the chopped wood has a knot in it, otherwise splits it relatively easily. The 3lb sledge is a great bonus to the package! Like this, it works well for my kids, but we had to upgrade to larger screws to secure it after it came loose a couple of times.
