The Champion 25 Ton Gas Powered Log splitter provides heavy duty, dependable, and portable log splitting with power and speed. 25 Ton performance with 22.6" x 4" Hydraulic Cylinder, 2 Stage Hydraulic 11 Gallon/minute Pump producing Maximum pressure of 3900 psi. 12 second no load cycle time and integrated log cradle can accommodate 24" long logs with maximum weight of 100 lbs. Towable frame with 2" ball hitch, DOT approved wheels includes 5.0 gallon hydraulic oil capacity (oil not included). Operates either vertically or horizontally, adjust using pull pin. Is not difficult to assemble, but it’s difficult to manoevre for assembly: comes in a big crate apps 400lbs. It’s just heavy and awkward, and needs at least two people for lifting the splitter onto the wheels. Once that part is over is reasonably easy to assemble and get working. You’ll need @ 4 quarts of hydraulic oil, and 1 of engine oil to get running. Started first time and chops all logs. I chopped half a cord in no time, effortlessly. I don’t know how this compares to others out there, but I am happy with this, especially option to adjust splitter to horizontal or vertical- easy to split the big logs. ... show more

One of the easiest, surest starting pull engines I have ever owned. It has started the first time, every time; and has split even the gnarly, knotty very large rounds. It may take multiple attempts on the largest and worst logs, but hasn't met its match yet. The only issue I have had is the automatic return mechanism became too sensitive and wouldn't fully return the wedge before tripping. However, this is easily remedied as the manufacturer puts instructions in the manual on how to adjust this. I have split over 6-7 cords of wood this season and it has ran flawlessly. ... show more

This splitter has been a game changer. It is every bit as powerful as it said....quick too. The ability to change to vertical at will is so valuable. starts every time, runs like a scalded dog, and will out work me any day of the week. The extra thought put into design reflect experience in use....that shows in the productivity n natural use. It doesn't really have any awkward motion in feeding it.. The only points worth mentioning...the exhaust is not directed away from the work area. Too, it would be good to have a filter on the hydraulic fluid. i plan to adjust both. in review, i would highly recommend this splitter. Well worth the money. ... show more

The log splitter works absolutely great. The problem was with the shipping container / shipper. Not sure what happened in transit but the engine had fallen out of the shipping container. You can see the broken shipping container and the engine sitting on the lift gate of the delivery vehicle. I was skeptical about receiving it but decided to see if anything was beyond repair or missing. Luckily, nothing was damaged and the unit performs great so far. ... show more

My area had high demand for all log-related equipment due to devastating ice storm so I had to wait a week for delivery. The machine took about two hours to assemble and I had to supply the gas, oil, and five gallons of hydraulic oil. It is well-made and functioned well.     • A powerful beast - but support issues
Style: 25 Ton + Full Beam + 224cc Engine
First of all, this machine does everything you might want it to do. So far, I've easily split 18" rounds of maple and cherry. That's what you buy it for, right? It's also well-finished - no sharp edges, well-painted, etc. However, although some have said they've assembled it in one hour or less, that may not be true for you. On the spectrum from IKEA bookcase assembly to NASCAR mechanic, putting this beast together lies closer to the latter end than to the former. After the initial steps - opening the crate, putting the wheels on the frame, etc., I was stymied by the need for some tools (torque wrench, for example) and more experience than I have. I am not a neophyte in general as far as DIY stuff is concerned, but I was stumped. I reached out to Champion support to see if they could recommend someone in my area who (for a price) could assemble the splitter. Nothing but crickets. It's now been a couple of months without any response. My friend who maintains a vintage Porsche 911 offered to help me. With his help I was able to assemble the beast. Keep in mind this is a 400 lb monster - a fact that was not revealed to the truckers who brought it to me. Their truck did not have a lift. It has wheels, but on a mulched area it moves only with difficulty. We did manage to get it in place, and it is performing very well. I haven't yet switched it to vertical, but the log-catchers in the horizontal mode are incredibly good. No need to bend, lift, bend, lift, etc. The manual is quite good, and to assemble the splitter my friend's wife read it out loud as we scrambled to put it together. One last parting shot. I have received several emails from Champion asking me to write a review, promising me a t-shirt if I do. The link they send isn't a link. I have tried several times. Given my experiences with Support, I am not a fan. The machine itself is what I wanted. I only hope that when an issue arises that needs support, their response will be better than it has been so far. I give it 5 stars for product, 2 stars for support. ... show more

12/13/21 I spent $1,400 dollars for this wood splitter and after a year and less than 2 weeks of total run time it has stopped running and it's leaked from day one. I'm waiting to hear back from the company to see what can be done. I will update.

Arrived in about 10 pieces in a 6’ foot box. I put it together myself in a couple of hours. The beam is heavy and you might need to use a hand truck. If you follow the instructions there should be no major issues nor leaks. If you intermittently use the choke this splitter will start within 3-5 pulls. I ran it for about 30 minutes before splitting. After splitting a half cord of hard wood the splitter only slowed down a couple of times on some odd sized pieces such as elbows. Unlike the 27 ton, this Champion 25 ton will fit through 46” doors. ... show more
