Description

For in-floor radiant heating installations. This easy- loading manual stapler, with magazine feed, operates from a standing position to quickly and easily secure a layout of PEX pipe (polyethylene cross-linked tubing) to a foamboard base. Malco's efficient, ergonomic, stapler design offers maximum control for comfortable one-handed, one-stroke staple insertion. The stapler head holds the PEX in place as staples are fed, via a non-stick polymer slide, to the plunger assembly. A leaf-spring controlled stop sets up each staple to avoid risk of deforming connections or jamming the stapler. The durable, lightweight magazine slide is made of a solid, one-piece engineered-polymer which balances the tool by directing the weight over the stapler head. An in-line D-grip correctly positions the user's hand and wrist for applying downward pressure while stapling, and when lifting and moving the tool. Exclusive Malco plastic foamboard staple designs accommodate 3/8, 1/2 or 5/8-in. (9.5, 2.7 or 15.1 mm) PEX and feature dual barbs for increased bite and holding power. These staples are also compatible with most other foamboard stapling systems. Malco 1-1/2 inch (38.1 mm) staples are designed for 1 inch (25.4 mm) foamboard. Additional barbs on 2-1/2 inch (63.5 mm) staples "double the holding power" in 2 inch (50.8 mm) foamboard. Discreet micro welds on the 25-piece staple loading strips separate cleanly as they are engaged in the stapler mechanism, and a staple weight added to the magazine slide ensures a smooth steady feed for uninterrupted stapling. A retractable wire-form stand allows the stapler to remain upright and spill-proof when not in use or when reloading staples. From the Manufacturer For in-floor radiant heating installations. • Most helpful tool
We started a Garage project that will have in floor heat, so to make the process go as smooth as possible, I purchaased this stapler to secure the tubing to the foam board. i have had exceptional luck with the stapler, it works very well, and the operation is totally stand up, no bending over. We used three people to lay the tubing, one to pull the tubing from the roll, one to lay the tubing on the floor in the pattern we laid out, and one followed up with the stapler. Just keep the stapler full of staples and push cleanly thru and you will have no troubles....I did purchase the weight that other suggested, and it makes a Hugh difference, as the staples are very light and the weight helps keep the stack in position. ... show more

  • Nice stapler that works well.
I put down several thousand feet of pex tubing by myself with this tool. It works great with a couple of caveats. 1) Get some sort of weight (I used a cast pipe collar) to sit on top of the 'staples" and push them down for consistent feeding. It'll save you tons of hassle and keep the staples from jamming (most of the time). 2) Use decent quality staples. There seems to be a huge difference in quality of staples. The name brand more expensive ones fed perfectly for the most part, while the cheaper ones would jamb repeatedly. You will experience jambs, so just know that and deal with it. Overall it's a GREAT tool and really makes putting down PEX easy. Much easier if you have two people, but doable with one. ... show more

  • Good idea on paper but doesn’t work that great in reality.
This is a great idea to be able to staple tubing down to blue board. When it works, it does a good job. However about every 4th plastic staple gets jammed up in the gun and is a pain to get out. Plan on ordering an additional 25% stick of staples.

  • Easy to use!
This tool made the process go faster and easier than bending over to twist ties to rebar. We will use it again on the next job.

  • well worth the money
if you plan on putting pex tubing in a concrete pad first use 2" of insulation and buy this tool to install 2 1/2 inch staples. This tool is a incredible. It works flawlessly, no bending over, no on your knees stapling pex to the insulation. You will not regret this purchase. I installed 1600 ft of pex by myself using this stapler and a homemade coil cart which held the pex while I unrolled 300' rolls. ... show more
