The kit also includes the category’s fastest-charging 5.0Ah batteries and the expansive breadth-of-line of the Makita 18V LXT system, so your batteries will power an expanding range of Makita tools and accessories. The XT269T includes a variable speed ½” hammer driver-drill with two speed settings and an efficient Brushless motor that delivers a full 530 ft. Lbs. Of max torque. The kit also includes a variable speed impact driver with a full 1, 500 inch-pounds of max torque. The XT269T is part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star protection Computer controls. This drill/impact driver kit showed me how tools SHOULD function. The impact driver is my most used and indispensable tool I own and it is POWERFUL. I’ve used it with a spade bit to cut holes in studs to run plumbing/electric and it could break your wrist if you’re not careful - it’s a beast. A monster. A demon. It must be respected. I have rebuilt an entire home with these tools, started doing paid contracting work, custom furniture building, you name it - and they haven’t shown one sign of slowing down regardless of the abuse, drops and falls, or using them for a job that calls for a more “powerful” tool like a rotary hammer or mixing drill. I did find the drill’s limit when mixing a 5 gallon bucket of some thick Venetian plaster, but the drill shut itself off at the right time to avoid any damage, flashing its LED to let me know it needed a break. The big thing with this kit is the BATTERIES! The 5amp batteries for the price are what made me go with this kit initially over the comparable black and yellow brand. It’s almost like you’re getting the most pro quality tools for free when you consider how much these batteries cost on their own. On these tools the 5amp batteries could get you through a week’s worth of heavy daily use. They’ve also never let me down when using them in other more power hungry tools like saws and my angle grinder. After 2 years of heavy daily use I do not notice any loss in battery life. Whether these are your first power tools or you’re upgrading from something more entry level, these are worth every penny and much much more. They are built to LAST and you will never outgrow these as your skills and projects advance. I would also highly recommend going with these over the cheaper non-brushless Makitas if you’re debating between them - The difference is massive. My mom has the non-brushless kit and they feel like children’s toys in comparison to these and the batteries are not compatible with the broader range of Makita tools. Once you have these and the 5amp batteries it makes the rest of the Makita line quite affordable when buying “tool-only” since these batteries can handle anything you throw at it. ... show more

I bought the drill, impact and the 5.0 AH 18 V batteries. Drill set is great, has 3 modes, 21 adjustable torque clutch and 2 speeds. I use the drill frequently to remove access panels on aircraft, bought the set a few months ago and have NOT had to charge the batteries once. The impact has impressive torque, but has no speed or modes so its all go. With the 5.0 AH batteries they do become quite heavy, so if you use them on a daily basis and are worried about fatigue, the 4.0 AH would be the better choice ... show more

I bought this as a gift because I wanted the recipient to have something they couldn't break no matter what they do with it or who they loan it to. I have used this same combo professionally for 10 years and in that time I have seen the other major brands struggle to keep up (and change their platform which basically kills the line beforehand- DeWalt, Milwaukie). These drills/drivers actually survive being dropped off rooftops daily, survive being used and stored at ridiculous temperatures (-45F), charge fast and completely, and have plenty of torque. All of these major brands have consumer grade tools that really are not made that well, Makita as well. -This combo is not that consumer level, this is what you buy to last a long long time... ... show more

Battery life is great and the product is every thing I had hoped for. I had a DeWalt drill before this. The chuck would fall out. I JB Welded the common bit in place. I could not use any other bits. I do not have that problem with this drill

These are really good drills. I haven't had a chance to extensively test them (only had them a month now and I don't have any big projects planned), but compared to drills I've used in the past; These are top notch in every regard.
