  • Not One Jam
I've had several finish nailers, and so far this is the best one. I did a car siding project on a 13' x 20' ceiling (so far) and I didn't have one jam. I did use quality stainless nails though. Although this is a straight nailer, the shoe is straight on the back side for face nailing and angled on the front side for hiding your nail heads on the tongue. This brings me to the anti-mar tip. This is an annoying little rubbery plastic piece of junk that keeps falling off. Since I was nailing on the tongue and any marring would be hidden, it didn't matter for me. I ended up just leaving it off. So it received four stars from me because of that. If that was fixed, I would have given five stars. ... show more

  • Not what I was hoping for
I am a builder from age 18 to now at 64 still working in the trade. My favorite trim nail gun, a senco sfn 40 finally broke on me and to repair it was about the cost of a new nailer. So I starting reading reviews and chose this nail gun. I am shooting 2 1/2" nails into straight grain white oak trim to metal studs. I am so disappointed as I am setting nails on every piece. I thought these new tools were better. How wrong I am. Here is the worst part, I ordered it in advance of the job and didn't get to use it until two weeks ago. After the first day when i got back to the motel I immediately came to Amazon to return it. My time to return had past. So I am stuck with a tool that doesn't do the job. Yes the depth adjustment is as deep as it can go:) So I would say buyer beware. Oh yeah, I am a makita fan. I have owned and still own many of their tools, which I love. It also is one of several reasons I picked this tool, my love of Makita. Anybody want to buy a new nail gun with about 40 hours on it?? ... show more

  • Very powerful, and sets nails accurately and consistently even through 3/4" oak
This is the first pnuematic nailer I've purchased, and I was pleasantly surprised at the power. Reviews that criticize various nail guns for setting nails inconsistently often cite hard woods like oak as particularly problematic. I tested this on scraps of oak molding, and also on pieces of 3/4" thick oak plank. It drives the nails perfectly straight through even the 3/4" thick oak. At the same time, as long as I pressed the gun firmly against the material, it sets the nails at a very consistent depth. After a little trial and error with the depth setting dial, I was nailing oak molding and the 3/4" oak to pieces of 2x4 with very consistent and accurate depth. I'm just a DIYer, but this feels like a very professional quality tool. ... show more

  • Outstanding
I have never used a nail gun until today. I have however used plenty of Makita tools in the past. One that I use quite often is an angle grinder. I have had it for 7 years now and it has taken a beating. Makita is on the same level as Dewalt in my mind This nailer is very light and gave me zero issues. I also used 2" nails in it so it supports nails other than 2.5" ones. I used a Bostitch pancake compressor and it worked just fine with that ... show more

  • Underpowered
I own 10 Makita tools, 8 battery, 2 electric. This is the first and only Makita tool that disappoints me. I got this to replace a 25 year old Craftsman. I got pnuematic as I could not justify the cost of the battery tool for a small project. Even at 120 lbs., this tool will not drive the 2.5" or 2" nails all the way in flush or countersunk. I am nailing T&G cedar siding into plywood. I need a nail set for just about every nail. The Craftsman did a great job sinking nails until it totally died one day. Oh, I just ordered a Makita mower too so can add that to my list of tools. ... show more

  • Great gun and seems quite durable
Has been a great gun so far, have fired a couple thousand nails through it and it hasn’t had any jams or problems. Only gripe is that the rubber tip does seem to want to come off easier than on the Makita 15g nailer. I don’t mind the magazine or nail loading on this at all, didn’t give any trouble even loading a small amount of 1.5” nails. Overall really glad I picked this up ... show more

  • It’s the best 2” straight nailer!
Awesome product! I shoot a box through mine every day and have only broke 1 driver blade in 2 yrs of everyday use. Beats a hitachi any day only thing it’s a little bulkier and a little louder but u can really tell a difference in the power!

  • My new favorite nailer
This gun had officially taken the top spot for my favorite 16gauge straight nailer. I used to have a hitachi for the longest time but the parts got expensive so this is the best bang for the buck! In the beginning the nails would spark as they left the gun, but after a few days it wore in has been smooth ever since! Not a single nail jamb either! ... show more
