  • Totally happy with this nailer - still
I purchased this to help shoot down a 3/4" hardwood floor installation. When you get close to walls and in tight spots there is no room to hit the flooring nailer. This little gut works like a champ. Puts 1 3/8" 23 gauge headless nails all the way through the asian walnut and into the floor. A few of these make it very difficult to pull back up, and the nails are so small there is no need to fill the holes, and there is nothing to countersink. Fantastic. Not a single jam. It would be nice if it shot 2" nails (brads), but to be fair, it just isn't worth the extra cost. This will work great on all of the 1/2" and 3/4" finish work that I need to do, and will even reach through 1/2" work, past 1/2" drywall, and touch studs with the remaining 3/8" or so. Ideal for tacking in place. Great little gun. UPDATE: October 22, 2018 Okay, I have to confirm my initial assessment. I love this gun. Not a single jam in over a month of use. I even like the little air blast feature built into the handle - I thought it was silly until I got used to having it there. It is light weight and does a great job on door trim, baseboard, and wainscoting. Another quality Makita product. Update: December 12, 2018 I'm still loving this nailer. I have used it extensively on baseboard, trim, and crown molding. It's a champ, and pays for itself in speed and not having to fill as many holes! I have yet to experience a jam. Just make sure you give it a few drops of oil each time you load. It's great. ... show more

  • Excellent precision. Does NOT jam.
I’ve tried other battery operated, or cheaper pin nailers. What a waste. This Makita nailer is A++, very robust, it always works, never jams and is super precise. An excellent tool. Update: After 3+ years of frequent use in a range of temps and humidity, and normal/heavy wear & tear on projects. Not one single jam, clog or failure. I just finished pin nailing 25+ picture frames. This thing is so rock solid and precise. It likely the best tool in all my Makita collection. It’s amazing how this thing has not jammed nails ONCE in the hundreds if not thousands of shots. Also very light and compact. Paired with a compact battery operated mini-compressor, it’s a must have for any finishing work. Keep clean. Use good pins and this thing can last on and on. ... show more

  • Great tool but didnt last too long
I am a professional cabinet installer and use my nail guns everyday. I bought this gun to replace a Senco 23 gauge nailer. The Makita is a great gun. It shoots nails very well and feeds without any jams. The power is great without any kickback even when shooting 1 3/8" nails through 1" hardrock maple. The only complaint is that the guns catch on the nail magazine is made of plastic and broke after two months of use. This would be a great gun for anyone who wants a quality nail gun at a value price. ... show more

  • Good nailer
I am a professional trim carpenter. I used this on a large trim job that required quite a lot of pin nails. Makita makes really nice pneumatic air nailers. I have multiple from different brands, and I have recently been enjoying the Makitas for job site work. Make sure you put a few small drops of oil in. Admittedly not my very best Nailer, but very good. Good for the price point. ... show more

  • Huge makita fanboy
I swear by makita. All of my tools are makita. This gun is junk. It worked great for a week then it wouldn’t shoot nails longer than 1/2”. I kept using it as a dedicated 1/2” nail gun because I frequently install 1/4” molding. Today I decided to take it apart and see why it wasn’t shooting longer nails. Turned out the plunger had some gunk on it that was preventing it from fully retracting. I cleaned it up really well and was back in business. 20) 1-3/16” nails into crown molding after fixing it and the plunger completely shattered. I guess that gunk was holding it together I ordered a new plunger from ereplacement parts. We’ll see if that changes anything. I’ve had the gun for less than 2 months. ... show more

  • Solid, great tool
Solidly built, zero kick and powerful and consistent delivery. My only minor gripe is the dual/safety trigger can be a little awkward at some angles, still not enough for me to mark it down an overall star.

  • Can't Go Wrong With Makita
I have had several Makita tools and loved every one of them. This is no exception. Quality tool.

  • Not type M disconnect
Looks like another great Makita tool except for one thing. The air intake quick disconnect fitting is a Japanese style and not a type M so I haven't been able to use it yet. Also it's torqued tight enough I couldn't unscrew it without possibly damaging the nailer. Makita does sell a universal female quick disconnect that you might try. I preferred to get an exact match, found this on eBay for $43, includes shipping: NITTO KOHKI COUPLING "HI CUPLA"-BRASS FEMALE THREAD R1/4~R1 BSBM-20SF~800SF Update: After waiting one month for the Japanese female quick release to arrive it's here, looks great, except for one thing. The female 1/4 inch threads are British Standard Pipe instead of National Pipe Taper threads so the thread pitch is incompatible. So :-( back to eBay to order a 1/4" NPT Female to 1/4 BSPT BSP Male Gauge Sensor Adapter Reducer M763 It's always something. ... show more
