I used to use the dollar store ones that literally looked the same as these. But when I got these, they were a little better quality. They really work and get your face clean. It's like a squeaky clean. There is nothing left over. It really is a micro fiber cloth without the high price. I've used a stringent afterwards to see if there was 'anything' left and there wasn't. The cloth comes out clean. I've heard people think they get 'moldy' or get mildew when they are laying there 'wet' but mine never have. This is the 10th year or so I've used these. Remember, you are cleaning your face with these. Just rinse it out when done. I stopped using the throw away makeup remover pads and ONLY use this now. Gret purchase. I'll purchase more about every 5-6 months.

I like the idea of these make-up remover/facial scubbers. They only complaint I have is that parts of the netting (scrub part) on the back sheds. I find pieces of it in the sink.
