I purchased this for my 6 year old boy, not realizing it was created more for girls (mermaids, pinks, flowers, etc). I didn't say anything to my son, just let him decide how he wanted to create his scene. He wanted a "bad guy" snake and dragon with a knight to protect the castle. He totally made it his own and didn't think twice about the feminine theme it came with. I have extreme doubts that it's leakproof. Maybe I'm jaded from all the sippy cups I've purchased over the years making that exact promise and then we end up with milk everywhere. Time will tell. You get what you pay for! This is a fun cheap(ish) craft. It comes with pieces to make 2 snow globes and clay to design your own inserts and bake (you get a castle and a mermaid as well). The plastic of the globe is pretty thin so as soon as it gets dropped it cracks. This would possibly be better for slightly older kids; I ended up having to buy a second kit after we made them and my daughter shook hers up and immediately dropped it on accident and the plastic globe smashed. Overall, not bad, but certainly not high quality. Pro tip: The clay molds better when warmed by your hands- it is hard and crumbly until you get it going. ... show more

This activity kept me and my daughter occupied about a hour. It was fun and creative with the model clay. Please read ALL the directions before starting! It was fun but we failed to do one important. No paper inside the water lol!

It’s a very cute kit, and we had fun making it. We followed all the directions, and the clay failed to set, in both globes. We gave bluntly of cooking time, and baked the appropriate time, but the clay sort of melted or fell apart. It made the water hazy, and my girl was heart broken.

I thought it would be a lot of fun to make them together. We got very close to doing it, but she couldn't figure out what she wanted to put inside of hers so I've been waiting months to actually do it together and take pics. We took everything out and looked at it and it seems very straightforward and cute. It's definitely ocean themed, and it comes with premade things that could easily be put inside for anyone who isn't feeling creative and doesn't care if it doesn't come out perfectly. I would definitely recommend this for children and it would be a fun party activity. ... show more
