  • Finally found a board I like!
Color: Bamboo Drop & Fiberglass Through Lon...
I have owned a half dozen longboards used to commute to school and work by board. I once worked for a skateshop and have tried many longboards. The Sector 9 Cosmic boards (flexy, fiberglass boards) have been my ride of choice for 15 years or so... until now. The Magneto is now my ride! I bought my son the 38.5" "carving" Magneto board. I tried it out and enjoyed it so much I bought the 42". While I like the 38.5", I'd instead recommend the 42" because it is just as maneuverable, has small kick-tails, and has a better overall feel. I'm a pretty big guy, my son is about 90 lbs, and my daughter is about 60 lbs. We all can ride the 38.5" or 42". Pros: - Great for carving! - Smooth ride. The flex in the fiberglass really reduces road vibration! - Stable. The lower center of gravity and the firm/slightly flexy surface makes for a secure feeling surface at high speeds. - Can handle tight turns (if you have the balance) - Nice look and hand-feel of the sanded grip. It also doesn't scrape up your clothes so much while carrying the board. I was not sure how I felt about not having grip tape... now I really like it! - Wheels, trucks, and bearings seem great to me. I'm not going to bother replacing them as the gains would only be minor if any. - Strong. I can jump on the board without feeling like it'll break. - The price is really reasonable for a premium quality board Cons - I would like a longer kicktail. I use the kicktail on tight turns or while turning while going slow. - It seems to get dings in it easier than my son's cheaper hardwood board. That said, I know they are all going to get beat up with use! ... show more

  • Excellent longboard
Color: Bamboo Drop & Fiberglass Through Lon...
The bamboo cruiser is great. It has the perfect amount of flexibility so that it’s comfortable. It also has a beautiful design. The only thing I wish it had is better bearings. One of the bearings started making a clicking sound after my second time riding it. Other than that, it’s an excellent board for its price! I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Novice skater
Color: Bamboo Carving Longboard Skateboard
I just started to learn how to longboard at 52 years old. I'm 6'-2" and 240 lbs. This board is perfect for my size. The low sitting profile made it comfortable to keep my balance while learning to kick. My friends that have been skating for years were impressed with the quality of the board.

  • Beautiful to behold and sturdy underfoot
Color: Bamboo Dancing Longboard
The most striking thing about the Magneto Bamboo Dancer, once you open the box and realize the sheer length of it, is how gorgeous this longboard looks. From the bamboo pattern to the clear grip tape and "M" logo on top to the black reversible Magneto logo on the underside to the black trucks and wheels, this board looks absolutely beautiful. I was reluctant to take it out into the street for fear of nicking and scraping away at the glossy finish. As a former shortboard skater, the Bamboo Dancer presented a couple new challenges. First, it's a lot heavier and longer than a regular skateboard and thus transporting it requires a bit more finesse lest you scrape away at your doorways, walls, or car paint. Second, the size and weight forced me to relearn how to do the most basic skateboard skills such as turning, pivoting, and even pushing. The trucks and wheelbase are much wider and longer which allows for more stability, while the soft wheels provide a smoother, quieter ride while sacrificing some speed. I used to ride my shortboard with tight tight tight trucks, and switching to a dancer board, which requires loose trucks for maximum fun, took a little getting used to. Thankfully, Magneto was awesome enough to provide a free skate tool to adjust the kingpin and tighten/loosen your trucks as desired. It's been 4 months since I received this longboard and as I've gotten more competent at riding and performing tricks, I've also beaten up the board substantially. The symmetrical nose and tail are appropriately scraped up, yet they still retain their pop and have no cracks or delamination. However, the sides of the board that sit right below the wheel wells have chipped off some leaving exposed and splintered wood on the topside of the board. I'm sure my countless attempts at 180 no-complys and ghost ride kickflips contributed to this damage, but I'm surprised that instead of just wearing away or denting the wood I'm instead getting large splinters that are peeling off. Another strange thing is the wheels seem to occasionally become crooked. It's hard to describe, but imagine you give the wheel a nice spin and instead of just rotating around the axel, it wobbles as it spins. I don't know if it's due to the wheels being too soft so the bearings loosen and shift in place, but I can get it to go away by pushing the wheels into the trucks to straighten them. It's a manageable problem, but I've never seen it before on other skateboards. I have some Orangutang wheels in the mail. Overall I love the Bamboo Dancer. As my first longboard I knew there would a learning curve and I didn't want to spend too much on a learning board, but after riding this thing for 4 months I really can't imagine how much better a much more expensive Loaded board would be. I know there's a world of fancy longboards out there, but of all the ones I've seen the Magneto is hands down, to my eyes, the best looking one by far. Minus 1-star for the wood splintering on the sides and the weird issue with the wheels. Otherwise, this board is amazing in every way. ... show more

  • Good for a beginner
Color: Bamboo Carving Longboard Skateboard
I'm new to skating, specifically cruising and I gotta say this board was easy for me to ride. I started off with a 27.5'' mini cruiser and found it to be to small. i'm a 6ft 190lbs man so I needed something bigger and wider so I can feel more stable. I ordered the 38'' by 9'' magneto board and it was perfect. The Magneto packaging is good, nice and compact, and the board is pretty much ready for use right out the box. I did listen to a couple of reviews about checking all the bolts to make sure nothing is loose and had to tighten the trucks a little and the bushings (optional depending on how tight you like them). Other than that, the board is nice and easy to ride. PS: The quality of the bearings and wheels seem fine to me but I am a beginner and this is my first longboard so I don't really have much to compare. Update: 9/27/18 So i've had this board for about 2 weeks now and I learned a lot since then. I bought some new bearings (heady shake) and right away felt the difference. I also bought new wheels (bigfoot mountain cruisers) which are bigger and harder (76mm, 80a verses the stock 70mm, 78a) and it made the board faster and smoother. Now I can comfortably say that the stock bearings are decent and worth upgrading considering they're cheap to buy. As for the wheels, if you want to ride faster, i'd recommend buying some bigger wheels that are a little harder. Still don't know enough to have a firm opinion about the trucks/bushings but they seem good to me. ... show more
