It is a must to have a magnetic retriever and a flexible one is a must. I was cleaning out my engine block prior to reassembly and using this to weave into the block holes, I actually pulled out a lot of little tiny pieces of metal that were lodged in there and some metal rings that were in there, where those came from I have no idea, but maybe they were remnants of some old freeze plugs. It’s an okay product. Magnet struggled to pick up a screw I dropped and that kinda made me sad cause that was the main reason I got it was for fishing out screws nuts bolts & the like from hard to reach places on projects. Just wish the magnet was a bit stronger but it’s okay.

Sure I’ll be able to use it eventually for something else, but it’s certainly NOT flexible. It requires strong pressure to bend the coil so I can’t “feed” it into the drain to retrieve something I dropped down the sink.
