Did exactly what it said. I wasn't very picky in cutting the size and making a straight edge so a tiny bit of light was visible, but that is my doing not The product. The sheet to cut from is a generous size, I cut out sheets for two standard double hung Windows and have enough for at least two more. I personally love the magnets, they are strong and yet don't take a ton of effort to separate (using recommended twist motion). Only thing that would be better is if more base plates were available in case the blind needs to travel, a easy removed (like books and wall hanging ones) adhesive for travelling would be perfect.

I have an east facing house so I get beating afternoon sun in my back door slider and kitchen windows. This product is so simple to install, just attach with magnets to the window/door frame. It’s portable and no need to stick anything to the actual window. 100% light blocking!

Use this blackout fabric to block radiant heat on large RV windows on the outside. Works really well. Blocks all light and rejects a lot of the radiant heat. Since there are only 12 suction cups and hook-loop patches can only use these on 3 small windows or 1 or 2 larger windows, depending on amount of fabric needing to be held up. Our RV has a huge front window, about 4ft by 5ft. With a piece fabric that large and heavy and using only 4 adhesive patches they would not hold it up. The fabric would slide off the adhesive in the corners. Added 2 more along top edge and another in middle of each side for a total of 8 and then they were able to hold it up. It has stayed up even in 105 deg heat. For a slightly smaller window had the same issue trying 4 corners. Since I didn’t have more suction cups to use I end up using the magnets. They worked much better but are permanent on the window. Will see if they rust after being in the elements for a while. The fabric did slide in between the steel and the magnet a little as it flapped in the breeze so would require tightening about once a day. These work work for outside an RV without heavy winds. If it were to get very breezy I think the fabric would slowly pull off the hook and loop patches and also slide from under the magnets. Overall though this fabric works well for outside an RV to help keep temps inside lower.

I have several small windows in the basement, and this was enought to get them all. only issues i had were since I was covering so many smaller windows, i ran out for magnets before I ran out of fabric. it does a really good job, even if light comes thru the pattern, the spillover from around the window being eliminated is way better that the cardboard boxes.

I used cardboard and aluminum foil for years to block out light in the bed room when working third shift. These are a much more aesthetically pleasing option. The magnets and suction cups make removal easy and reinstallation quick. Wish I had these years ago!

This set is basically a large vinyl curtain with 12 magnets/metal sticky plates. It also comes with a basic measuring tape. It works well for darkening a room and it’s convenient in the way that it has all you need in one package. The vinyl curtain is silver on the outside to reflect the light so I guess that would save some energy during the summer. I feel like you could achieve pretty much the same for less money with a trip to the hardware store, but again, not as convenient as getting this set shipped directly to your door.

When the description said portable, I imagined a curtain that could move from window to window. Instead, to install this curtain, you first put a magnet base on the window. Then you use the other part to secure the curtain to the window. It works very nicely, but in order for it to be portable, you would need magnets on the frames of the windows you want to darken. Other than that, this is a very good solution for our guest room, which faces the street.

this came quick and my daughter put it up immediately, and it works really well. what a difference it made in blacking out the room, she is so happy with it! good stuff. design doesn't matter because it is behind the blinds, she is 19 and would have preferred without but like I said, it is behind the blinds so design or no, you cannot see the film. it seemed a little pricier than other blackout items, BUT the installation of this was so much easier and although not permanently affixed, stable and seems sturdy and I assume it will be there until taken down. happy with it overall.
