  • Great Organization, Questionable Value Great Organization, Questionable Value
These are pretty solid organization inserts for the Milwaukee 4-in-1 drill, designed to fit the Packout case (48-22-8435), and they do fit very well. That said, these are clearly 3D printed parts—and they look like it. You can see the print lines throughout, and there are still small “hairs” from the printing process. Overall, the finish is rough and unrefined, so don’t expect anything close to a polished, factory-molded product. Functionally though, they do their job well. The main organizer holds the drill and all attachments securely, and the cutout is designed well enough that you can leave any of the four attachments connected while storing it. That’s a nice touch and makes it more practical for quick use. The second tray includes flip-up bit holders similar to what you’d see in standard bit cases, which makes accessing bits easy. There are also a few extra compartments that work well for loose items like screws or small accessories. They also include replacement latches. Installing them isn’t overly complicated, but it’s not exactly plug-and-play either. You’ll need to remove the original latches (they’re held on by a one-way clip-style mechanism), then take off the metal retention bail. After that, use a 5/32 punch to drive out the pin. Installing the new latches is just the reverse of that process. I’m giving this 3 stars for one main reason: the price. $60 at the time of review, it’s hard to justify. That’s roughly double—or close to double—what I paid for the actual Packout case it’s designed to go in (mine was in the $30 range at Home Depot). Paying more for the insert than the case itself just doesn’t sit right. That concern is amplified by the finish quality. These are very obviously 3D printed, with visible layer lines and leftover stringing throughout. Nothing about them feels refined or production-grade, which makes the price even harder to defend. To be fair, there’s a lot of material here, and these clearly aren’t quick prints. I don’t know the exact cost of 3D printing at this scale, but it’s not a small job. Still, that doesn’t necessarily translate into good value for the buyer. This feels like one of those cases where the manufacturing cost doesn’t really match what the final product is worth. Overall, this is a good functional upgrade if you want better organization inside your Packout case. But between the rough finish and the high price, it’s hard to recommend without hesitation. ... show more

  • Confirms perfectly to both the drill and packout case Confirms perfectly to both the drill and packout case
First off, do understand that this is just the insert; you have to buy the Milwaukee model 48-22-8435 packout organizer separately. I like how it comes with both a bottom tray for small items with the upper tray for your drill & accessories. The inserts fit smoothly into the packout case yet are easy to pull back out. The opening for the drill is very accurate and hugged the drill nicely. After placing the drill in the case and closing, you can shake the case pretty hard, but the drill does not bounce around. So it does help protect your drill and the clear top lets you immediately see what’s inside. The insert is somewhat pricey, but If you’re really into the packout system, this might be a good choice for you. Otherwise, it’s probably just as easy to keep the drill & accessories in the case that come with the drill kit. ... show more
