I don't normally give reviews unless I'm impressed and the Zapperbox impressed me!!!!! We gave the Zapperbox 5 Stars and if we could have given more we would have. We Love the Zapperbox!!!!! We have now had our Zapperbox M1 for about 4 months. My family thinks its the best OTA DVR out there. As for ATSC 3.0 NextGen device we know its the best out there. We have tried all of the ATSC 3.0 NextGen devices out there and the Zapperbox M1 is hands down better. As for Zapperbox customer service we think Zapperbox is great. Zapperbox has answered all of our questions and have helped us when we needed anything. Zapperbox has been very fast at responding. One thing that is great is the picture quality. I have the Zapperbox M1 hooked up to our LG C4 83 inch TV. The reason the picture quality is so great is that you use a HDMI 2.1 Cable to hook it up to the TV. By using a HDMI 2.1 Cable this gives you the best picture quality. We love this feature of using a HDMI 2.1 Cable. As for the price for Zapperbox we thought it was kind of high when we bought the Zapperbox, But after we got the Zapperbox and hooked it up to our LG C4 83 inch TV we thought the Zapperbox was worth every penny that we paid. As for the setup of the Zapperbox it was very easy. Plus everything with the Zapperbox has been very easy to use. The Zapperbox also has this great feature with a great detailed signal readings, That show the signal strength, signal/noise ratio and signal quality. This is real great and you can use these signal readings to get your antenna dialed in for the best signal at your location. Another great feature is once you scan for channels the Zapperbox has a additive channel scan and this is real great, Because you can scan for more channels without losing the channels that you already have, That it will just add any extra channels that you get, So if you're using a antenna rotor this means you can have every channel from every direction that you get channels from. As for the DVR it is great and easy to use. You can set the DVR to record series like all of them or just new episodes. You can keep them or delete them both are very easy to do. Zapperbox also gives you 3 ways to add DVR storage. You can use a microSD Memory Card, a Portable SSD or a External Hard Drive HDD. Now just to let you know if you use a External Hard Drive HDD, You will need a power adapter to powerup the External Hard Drive HDD. Now if you use a microSD Memory Card or a Portable SSD you won't need anything else. No matter which way you go the Zapperbox DVR requires a minimum storage of 128GB and there is no maximum drive size restriction. The whole family loves the Zapperbox. We are glad that we decided to pay the higher price tag for this Zapperbox M1. Zapperbox was the last one we bought to tryout and the Zapperbox was the best and the only one we decided to stick with all the others we sent back. The Zapperbox is well worth the high price tag. We think people will love the Zapperbox if you decide to upgrade to a ATSC 3.0 NextGen Device. Zapperbox is the best one out there and Zapperbox is making the Zapperbox better all the time with updates to the Zapperbox. Right now the Zapperbox only works with other Zapperboxes. Right now Zapperbox has 3 different Zapperboxes the Zapperbox M1 which is a dual tuner, the Zapperbox M2 which is a single tuner and the Zapperbox M3 which is a DVR & Gateway Client. Our only problem with the Zapperbox is that Zapperbox DOSEN'T have a quad tuner yet, But Zapperbox has told me that Zapperbox is trying to work out all the issue involved with announcing the quad tuner product and that Zapperbox is hoping that Zapperbox can announce a date by the end of April or May, But however, this is a research project at this time and sometimes it just takes longer. Zapperbox wants to be sure that everything will work as planned before announcing a Zapperbox quad tuner, But we wouldn't just wait to buy the Zapperbox quad tuner, We think you should buy the Zapperbox M1 right now to see how you like it. Plus when the Zapperbox quad tuner comes out you can buy it and put it in whichever room you want and use both of them together, Because these will work together and you will even be able to record more things because this would be like having a 6 tuner and be able to do everything right from one or both Zapperboxes. We can't wait until the Zapperbox quad tuner comes out so we can put the Zapperbox M1 dual tuner in our bedroom and put the Zapperbox quad tuner in our living room. Surprisingly good product, so far. Tuner receives all station signals as before product installation and produces a clear, not filmy picture, live or recorded. Easy installation. Looking forward to planned upgrades like a Roku connection. Have not tested all aspects of the product, waiting for ATSC 3.0. Channel guide is very good and the free version is quite passable. I recommend using an SDD drive for recording. Could not get a response from support prior to purchase by e-mail, the only way to contact support. Worth the extra cost.

It's Saturday December 21st. I wrote this around 3 PM about an hour after I tried using their 'chat' feature on their support section of their website (Also left an angry voicemail). I have 3 TV's in my house. 2 of them have built in ATSC 3.0 tuners built in but the main TV in my living room does not. It only sees ATSC 1.0 signals. I ordered your box in September to fix the issue. It has worked flawless until today I am no longer able to see ANY stations using the zapper box. 3.0 OR 1.0 are not showing up. I can see all the stations on my other 2 tv's so I know the antenna is fine. I can move the coax cable off of my zapper box and unto my TV and get all the 1.0 stations - so I know the cable is fine. I also have the box hardwired using CAT6 cable and I checked the internet connection - it was fine. Checked to see if it (Zapperbox) was at it's latest firmware - It was. I restarted the box, it did not fix it. I performed a factory reset, did not fix it. Channel scan multiple times, and it did not fix it. I checked the DVR and from what I can see the last thing to record was at 12:30 am last night so it looks like it was working up until today. I have people coming over to watch football and our living room is where everyone fits. I cant send them to bedrooms and I cannot unmount the tv's in those bedrooms. I paid a lot of money for your product and it was only in September. I need this fixed NOW. -It has now been 5 hours and I've received no response - nothing. I have people coming tomorrow and nothing for them to watch. I am more concerned about Christmas Eve and Christmas though.

Live tv streaming options are getting more and more expensive. I bought an over the air antenna and I am able to get tv service way out in the middle of nowhere. I bought this dvr so I can record some of the tv shows I watch. This dvr has exceeded my expectations! I can record two different shows at a time and watch on my time. I was able to really cut back my paid streaming options and that has been nice!

It really does ATSC 3 including the encrypted channels, but it seems very sensitive to signal quality with these channels, encrypted or not. ATSC 1 content works well, but I'm having sound-picture sync issues with ATSC 3 channels and drop-out issues with those with lower-quality signals. For the DVR, I started with a 256 Gb USB 3.9 flash drive, but delays when advancing or pausing were very long. Changed to a 1 Tb external SSD with worked better. Probably worth the extra $ to buy the model that comes with storage.

I had a Channel Master DVR that did a great job until Google halted their Google Live channel guide. Once that happened The DVR part was essentially dead. Shopped around for a while for a replacement when I stumbled on this gem. Very easy to set up and schedule recordings. I added an 1TB external drive and with dozens of shows already recorded, it’s only 20% full. The DVR records whatever quality is being broadcast. Only downsides: fast forwarding/reversing isn’t that great and right now the only streaming capability is YouTube. I reached out to the developers and they continue to add and update features. BUY IT - you won’t regret it! Update as of 12/2/2025: Still loving this tuner! And the customer support is even better - unheard of in today's disposable electronics environment. I began having problems with my dual tuner: when I'm watching a recorded program and two shows start recording simultaneously, my screen goes blank. I go to the library and see the show I'm watching still shows as being played. I end the playback and restart it, but when I select "Continue where I left off", it actually starts from the beginning. Not a huge issue so I just shot ZapperBox Customer Support and e-mail. They got back to me in short order asking about my external SDD and the box's power supply. Seems the 2amp one that came with the box isn't sufficient, so even though I've had the box for well over a year, ZapperBox is sending me a 3amp plug at no cost!

This DVR is ok...I am on my 3rd unit. First one ran really hot (I could not even touch the coax connector it was so hot), the 2nd unit ran cooler, but the tuner failed after two weeks (it lost the RF pre-amp and could only see really strong channels). The 3rd unit they sent does run cool and the tuner is fine as well. I get about 105 channels here in the Phoenix area. However, it is rather slow and sluggish while trying to skip commercials. Sometimes it jumps ahead right away, other times it thinks about it for a second or two. Seems like a slow or overloaded processor. It does work for the odd time I actually want to see something off air which isn't very often anymore. I usually just stream what I want to see.
