4/13/23 update: The device is still fine. I use it daily. The problem is the safety glasses that are necessary when operating this thing. The glasses that came with it are not well made. The arm on the left side was a little wobbly, but I thought that if I handled them carefully they'd hold up. Nope. The arm fell off while the glasses were stored in the box. The glasses won't stay on without that arm. Even that wouldn't be too bad, but the instructions don't tell you what kind of glasses to buy to replace these. I'm going to have to guess. If I don't get it right I'll damage my eyes. Good device, terrible safety glasses. What a shame. Original review: It's easy to use and it works. On my face I use it at setting 2 and it isn't even uncomfortable. There are a couple of hairs that I was treating and after about a month of daily use, they don't seem to be coming back. If they do reappear I'll update this review. For more difficult areas I've been using the maximum setting, and that is uncomfortable. It's also well worth the discomfort. The instructions tell you to shave the hairs, and not to pluck them. This is important, but if you can live with the smell of burning hair you don't have to shave, either. This isn't battery operated, and the power cord can get in the way sometimes. But the units with rechargeable batteries were well out of my budget, and this was affordable. So my only reason for 3 stars is it feels like false advertising to show all these images of people on the couch or wherever using this device wirelessly when it has to be wired to work. Really why make the wire detachable in the first place? That aside, this device feels like its good quality. It has some heft to it that I wasn't expecting. I tested out the level 5 intensity and nearly had a heart attack. I thought if you just didn't aim the light at your eyes you'd be fine but those shades are included for a reason. Level 5 looked like a light bulb had exploded suddenly and a line of light was seared into my retinas from what little light escaped between the device and palm of my hand. It felt a little warm after but that was almost unnoticeable. I may update my review after a few months but of the quality of the device it seems really good. ... show more

I tried for a month on my beard, armpits, chest hair. But i did not see a slowdown in hair growth. I m wheatish color not very dark skin. So i guess product is not well designed for the purpose.
