I let my brother who is a professional musician who owns an original LP did the review and testing and he's so impressed by it's quality. He adjusted the action and everything else and stretched the strings for a few days before using. During our test at home, he used a small amp and he said it sounded great. He then used a bigger Marshall AMP with a real band with live audience and ask other professional musicians in the club how it sounded. They all said, they couldn't tell the difference (I guess it's probably the way my brother played the guitar) Comments from my brother: 1. Pickup is not as good as the original LP ( understood) when using those bigger Marshall amp. I guess this is where to original LP separates from the copy) 2. Frets were good. 3. Overall he has really no complains. For a price of $190, this is amazing. We will be replacing the pickups with Seymor Duncan and let's see what he will say but that would a weeks or months from now. Came pretty well intonated. No major flaws. Frets we’re nice and not sharp. I had to polish but nothing else. Top was very nice. My only criticism would be a little sloppy glue but VERY minor. Sounds great out the box, even better with a string change. Well worth the money

    • Good CHEAP Les Paul copy

So, is this an exact Les Paul copy? well, no. the build quality isn't there. Not saying that the build quality is bad, but there were a few issues. As with ALL cheap guitars, there was a lot of excess polish residue in the cavities. And a few spots that still have some very minimal orange peeling. There is a tiny bit of sharp frets, but I just got it. I'll see again in a few months if they sprout more. There was an area on the back by the pot cover that the finish was not smooth. It seemed like the masking was on the back instead of in the cavity or something. And there was one burn through from the polishing. There was a very small dent on the back bottom. When I can, I'll take some pictures and post them. Also, the binding on the neck has a spot that the yellowing seemed to be worn down from the fret filing. Not a big deal. The 'B' string's tuner is a bit tight. But the tuners themselves are pretty good. The dials on the pots are kind of close together, if you compare it to other Les Pauls and Les Paul copies. Now for the good things. I got this 'Lyx Pro' for about $179. I also have two Oscar Scmidt Les Paul copies that were around $212. They have a slightly better finish, but they have the tear drop tobacco sunburst. I really wanted a perimeter tobacco burst. This Lyx Pro is more of a combo cherry/tobacco burst. The color is a bit lighter than the Oscar Scmidt. But the Lyx Pro has a cherry back. The Oscar Scmidts have a black back. The Oscar Scmidts also are about 1/2" thinner than this one. The Lyx Pro's pickups aren't the best. They are missing a lot of bass, especially the bridge pickup. I'll probably be replacing them anyway. The switch knob was bent. I unscrewed it and reinstalled it and it's fine now. The knob has a spot that's white from the plastic stretching, but I have a few extras. It came really well set up. The neck has just the right amount of bow in it. I just stretched the strings a bit and tuned it. The action was really good, but I like really low action, so I lowered it and there was very little buzzing after lowering the action really low. I plan on doing a full set up after a few days to let the wood settle. But I feel that there will be very little to do. The intonation was pretty good. I adjusted it a little and it's right on. I have to admit, I really like this guitar. It plays like butter. I'm really glad that I got it. But again, we'll see in a few weeks where the humidity takes it! ... show more

The frets have a bit of a burr on the ends but that is easily fixed. The tone and volume knobs are beautiful, Finish on top is very glossy as well as on the back and the neck. I own Gibsons, Martins and Fenders and was curious as to the quality and playability of this guitar. It really has a good sound through my 50W tube combo amp. Plays quite well. Very easy to fret. I am well pleased and will be keeping it. I own 20 plus guitars and have been playing since "1969". ... show more

    • Rhythm pickup broken

Rhythm pickup had no volume. Treble pickup ok and middle selection is like treble. Appears to have a broken pickup at receipt. Returned item straight away. No sense in troubleshooting just to find out internal coils is at fault. I didn’t want to open the guitar covers to avoid a fault of my own. Action was a little high but is playable and without buzzing. The fret edges are sharp enough to scrape fingers and need polishing. Tuners work fine. The working pickup sounds fine. The bad pickup is disappointing. Looks are ok but not pristine. Light for a Les Paul. I kind of liked that it’s light weight. ... show more
