  • Excellent
Size: 30" Right Handed Color: Pink
I am a musician. Have played guitar all of my life. My 5 year old daughter is musical and my wife wanted to get her a starter guitar for Christmas. She pushed for a target brand FAO Schwartz pink guitar. It was nothing more than a novelty. There was no amount of tweaking that would ever get that to play well. I returned it to the store and ordered this. This guitar is set right out of the box. Comes with a truss Rod tool Allen wrench for quick adjustment and stays in tune. The amp is also a nice quality. Look, I am not saying that this is the most incredible guitar- but for the money- to get an instrument that is actually functional and looks great, this is the guitar for you. Really nice sound and my daughter loves it. ... show more

  • An excellent first guitar kit
Size: 30" Right Handed Color: Blue
I have been playing guitar and bass for almost 40 years. I am not a professional but I have played in a number of actively gigging original bands and recorded 5 independent releases with the bands. My 7 year old son started taking interest in my guitars, but I am not about to hand a Les Paul over (even just the weight of it is not appropriate for a little guy). I bought my first guitar from the Sears catalog back in 1982. It was not very good and the action set so high that my fingers could get caught between the strings at the higher frets (but I didn't know any better at the time and I was leaning on myown). After a bit of online research I settled on this kit. Upon arrival I immediately opened it and started checking all the components. Everything works and is of good quality for the price. The guitar is overall well built and looks just as depicted. I was impressed by the action, which can really get in the way of learning if it is not appropriately set. The guitar had obviously been pre-tuned and had maintained it fairly well (considering the thermal fluctuations it must have been subjected to in transit - it's December - and during storage). I enjoyed playing the instrument, keeping in mind it's not a high end instrument but an excellent one for the price. The amplifier is just right. No one wants to lose sleep to a 7 year old playing guitar and the amp provides enough volume to have a lot of fun but not wake up grandma. It also has a headphone jack. It has quite a bit of range (again for the price), and the built in distortion is rather pleasant (think early Black Sabbath but also able to get more modern tones by playing with the bass and treble). The clip on tuner worked as expected and is very easy to use. The strap is functional and appropriate. Would I use this guitar to play a gig or record? sure, why not? it's a fine instrument that gets the job done and I had fun mucking about with it. Nothing fancy but everything about it is better than adequate and an excellent first guitar kit. If this had been my first guitar I would have had a much easier time learning how to play than I did with the one I actually had. ... show more

  • Great for a beginner
Size: 30" Right Handed Color: Blue
The quality of this guitar is great, especially for the price. The strings are cheap. But that's to be expected with a child's beginner guitar. My 5 year old grandson loves it. It fits him perfectly. I've been playing guitar for over 40 years and I am impressed with the feel and playability. Only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because I had to buy a better cable because of buzzing and better strings. But that's minor. ... show more

  • Very nice guitar but it came defective.
Size: 30" Right Handed Color: Pink
I just bought this for my daughter as her first guitar. Quality is very good and the amount is nice. We received it yesterday and gave it to her today for her birthday. After playing it myself I noticed a vibration sound on the 6th string and I was having a hard time keeping it tuned. I noticed it's missing a set screw on the bridge causing the issue. Haven't been able to get in touch with Amazon or the seller for customer support. Only putting this review out hoping someone can reach out for the part. Other than that this is a great starter guitar. ... show more

  • Amp is faulty, loud buzzing noise
Size: 30" Right Handed Color: Red
Got this for my kiddo and they were super excited about it. But we have only had it a few days and when they went to turn it on this morning, after being on about 5 minutes it started making a horrendous super loud buzzing sound. We turned it off and waited for kiddos Dad to come home and he says that yeah the amp must be faulty. I had noticed upon arrival the glue in the back did not seem to be holding down all of the fabric, but as long as it worked the aesthetics of the back of it wasn't a big deal.... We were more concerned with functionality, which is an issue because it isn't functional. Will update review after refund replacement. ... show more

  • Great guitar for the kiddos and great customer service!
Size: 30" Right Handed Color: Pink
I ordered the guitar for my daughter for Christmas and it turned out to be broken. I reached out to customer service and sent a whole new guitar kit to our house! My daughter absolutely loves it and the guitar amp has a good sound to it with a "drive" option to give that rock'n'roll crunch.

  • Would not intonate - major setup required - but fixed it.
Size: Left Handed 30" Color: Red
I purchased this for my grandson (age 5), and I feel this guitar and amp are a good deal for the price point. And now, for the rest of the story. The action was WAY too high so I could not get this instrument to intonate properly - I had to do the following so that it would properly intonate up the neck. 1) I had to install a 1mm fender style neck shim under the bolt on point of the neck. (purchased the shim at StewMac), as lowering the saddle at the bridge did not give enough control on height. 2) I had to un-screw the bridge and move the entire assembly toward the heel of the body 5/32". 3) Had to file fret ends on the sides of fingerboard ( I expected this as the humidity levels in China are higher than California - fret board wood shank a bit). 4) Built a new bone nut for it and lowered string height at the 1st fret to .020 of an inch down to the low E and to .14 on the high E. Instrument now has a good action height, good neck relief (.004) at the 6th fret and plays in tune and is buzz free. The amp is clean and fairly loud. The single pickup on the instrument is more than adequate. Paint job on the body was perfect. Actually, overall finish on the instrument was quite good. ... show more
