  • Quality Set for Great Price
Size: 7 PC Drum Kit
Summary: Great kit for the price! Make sure to use the right headphones/amp for best sound. Only downside are the pedals. They sometimes will not register an open hi-hat or kick beat. I bought this used/like-new and the boxes were slightly damaged, but all the equipment was perfectly intact. Assembly was easy and took about 30 minutes. Playing through a set of headphones I had laying around was adequate but hardly mind-blowing. I later found a better pair and noticed a huge quality improvement. I've played drums for over 20 years as a hobby in various community pit orchestras and cover bands. The last time I used an electric set was about 10 years ago. It was a friend's Roland and it sounded fantastic coming through the auditorium speakers. I was not expecting anything like Roland quality, but I was looking for something to bring to small venues so I wouldn't overpower the other performers. I wanted to hold off on reviewing since I wanted a chance to see how it did in a performance setting. I ran it through an Alesis Strike 12 drum amp and played at an open air farmers market. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. We had a good crowd and the feedback from them was all positive. I'm my own worst critic, though, but when I listened to our recordings I was very impressed at the sound quality and volume. I also vastly prefer this kit's mesh heads to the rubber ones I used on the old Roland. There are only two things that kept me from giving this product a 5 star rating and those two things are the pedals. The hi-hat controller missed the open hi-hat sound several times during the performance and the kick pedal really took some pressure to make sure it registered every time. The old Roland had a pad and it looks like the LyxJam 8 has that, too. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. The price can't be beat and you get a quality kit. If paying the absolute lowest price is not a priority, then spring for the LyxJam 8 for the kick pad and cymbal chokes, both features I would have liked to have on this kit. ... show more

  • Great drum set.
Size: 7 PC Drum Kit
Awesome sound except the bass pedal needs to be stomped on as it is low on sound. Otherwise I'm having a blast!

  • VERY pleasantly suprised.
Size: 7 PC Drum Kit
I am an amateur, self taught drummer. But I started about 25 years ago. I had someone build me a custom electric drumset around an old Alesis D4 module. It was great at the time. But the pads were foam. The technology wasn't super refined yet. I paid around $800 for that set. Regular e drumsets were around $2k at the time, and I didn't want to put $2k into just a hobby. The 800 was barely justifiable. So a few years pass. My first electric set is long gone. I am in a townhouse. And one of my old friends says he misses jamming. I start checking out new e sets. I saw a ton of these $300 sets around. So I started watching some videos. Long story short, the mesh heads are amazing. They are basocally silent as far as noise outside of your home. I'd say outside of your room, but people may disagree. This feels like a real set when I am playing on it. I have had it set up for 2 days now, and played it for hours both days. No issues yet. I am blown away by this. Less than half of what I paid 25 years ago, and a million times better in general. I'll try to remember to update in a few months. And I definitely will if anything breaks or malfunctions. Now, some of the things I noticed that others might have an issue with. I dont mind them, but other people might. 1) These are all 8" heads. I noticed the difference the most on the snare. It might take some getting used to on the smaller pads. 2) the frame is smaller than the normal 1.5 inch diameter. So if you are planning on using any of your 1.5" clamps you will be disappointed. I am sure there are adapters, but you will need something to mount anything that you have that is 1.5" outer diameter based. 3) The bass pedal will miss a hit every so often. Not enough that I can't rule out my performance. But enough that it makes me doubt it a bit. I had an old alesis bass module and hooked that in. It had a physical mesh head on it. It was about 60 bucks, but a worth while upgrade. The hat pedal has been OK, but I might end up having to figure something out for the that eventually. 4) The legs are in a box. I missed them at first. Also, it comes in a pretty plain box with a bunch of boxes in it. I was skeptical when I first saw it. But everything was there. The include all of the tools you need. All said and done, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get into drumming, wants to have a convenient travel kit to jame with friends, or lives in an apartment our town home. ... show more

  • I am loving my drum set!
Size: 7 PC Drum Kit W Throne
I think this is a really great drum set for the money. I am a beginner, and I didn’t have any problem putting this together. Everything came boxed very nicely, and it only took me about 45 minutes to set up the whole thing. Some of the boxes were damaged, but it didn't seem to affect the product. The instructions were thorough, and all of the cables are clearly marked (see photos). There is a lot of variety regarding the sound settings for all of the various drums and symbols. Be sure to set it up on a mat or carpet, the pedals will slide. I found plenty of instructional drumming videos on YouTube, and there are also several good apps for your phone. I signed up for Drumeo, which I love! Great instructors, who make it very fun to learn! I suggest buying a pouch for your sticks that you can attach to the frame, and a good plug in headset. Mine was only $30, and it works just fine. The drum throne is really uncomfortable for me, so I just use a chair. You too can learn to play the drums. Go for it! ... show more

  • Base foot control doesn’t work
Size: 7 PC Drum Kit W Throne
Hi, We purchased the set for our son’s Christmas present. He loves it, but noticed right away one of the foot controls does not work. I’ve seen other reviews that mentioned the same issue. Aside from this, he is having fun. Since this is a known issue, should we expect a replacement base foot control? Or will this not work period? Trying to figure out if I need to return and purchase a different set? ... show more
