After reading some of the stories about the plastic piece breaking off and clogging pipes, I decided to use it as a drop in. After opening pakage, put rubber gloves on, pulled hard on the plastic and out it came. Pull relatively hard; it will come out without crumbling the cake. Then just dropped them both in 2 toilets in the tank and voila!, works like a drop in perfectly. No mess, will eventually disintegrate after a month or so, no worries about anything clogging the pipes and then buy again. It doesn't turn the water citrus yellow, just foams up and flushes with a pleasant lemon smell. Will be buying more for my other 2 toilets. Very pleased after my modifications. PROS +++ - Last way longer than the advertised 4 weeks: I've found that for me they last about 8 weeks a bar; that said, I live with just one other person and we each have our own bathroom so maybe it disintegrates faster in a high-traffic household. - Very effective: I've found that these clean WAY better than any of the other automatic toilet cleaners do. I've mainly experimented with cling gels and found them lacking so I was really pleased/impressed by the effectiveness of these. I do a traditional toilet cleaning (with a brush and liquid toilet bowl cleaner) about once every two weeks but honestly my toilet still looks great a week and a half after manual cleaning, I don't even think a touch up cleaning is really required, it's just something that I like to do along with my regular bathroom cleaning. - Cheap: Hard to beat $4 a pack which, again, to me equals about 16 weeks of use! Even if they were only good for 4 weeks a bar I still think it'd be worth it. NEUTRALS /// - No Scent: I put this as a neutral mainly because I generally don't like cleaning surprise with artificial "lemon surprise" scents, they can really give me a headache (especially in small spaces like a bathroom), that said I know some people prefer scents with their cleaning supplies, and to be honest the lack of scent really does nothing to cover up the stinkiness that can come with a bowel movement. In short whether this is overall a pro or a con depends on what you like. - Shifts around: It does shift around the bowl some even with just a regular flush, that said I've never had one fall off or anything so I don't really see it as an issue despite some of the other reviews. CONS - - - - Not at all subtle: This isn't really a negative to me since, again, for the most part I'm the only one using my bathroom, but I can see why it'd be a negative for a lot of people. There's no disguising it, it's a big, somewhat awkward lump and you'll see it every time you step into the bathroom. Overall I truly do love these bars and will be a repeat buyer for sure. To me the neutrals and negatives are not really a big deal but I listed them anyway because I know that for some people (including other reviewers) one or more of these things can be a problem. It does provide a clean smell - but it is really quite strong. I’m sure it can vary depending on preferences but it was too strong for all of us. We also found ourselves still having to clean regularly as it really only help top half of the bowl. For sure a good maintenance staple, but the lemon was just more of a chemical smell than a pleasant lemon. ... show more

These tablets are easy to attach and release a nice scent when the toilet is flushed. But they do nothing to actually clean the bowl. I still have to use a separate bowl cleaner for that. Will not purchase again.

I love the fresh lemony fragrance in the room. It adds a little bit of cleansing bubbles to the water at every flush. But I do not see it doing a lot of cleaning. There is still a film of soil that forms in the bowl.
