LEP lights are something straight out of science fiction! It doesn't have a ton of practical uses but that doesn't matter when you get awesome beam shots. I got it to spot light areas very far away in a way that can also point out what I'm looking at. This light has next to 0 spill and throws for an incredible distance. If you want to throw A LOT of light at one spot that's far away, this a really good flashlight. Other than that it's almost a novelty, its way too bright to use for anything up close, the light reflecting off things close to you will blind you.     • Wow! This thing is like an un-dangerous lightsaber, a truly great tool.
Wow! I knew this thing would reach out, but even after reading other reviews outside Amazon, I was unprepared for how good this is. I was hugely grateful when LED flashlights became a thing. A huge leap for light. This LEP technology is actually elegantly simple, laser on phosphor makes amazingly collimated flashlight beam. Nope, I didn't go out to measure it, others have already done that. I will, probably, before I update this review as I see how long the batts last, how reliable it is, and any other variables like switches and durability. It fits my hand well. The switch, on-off and low to high, feels smooth, just strong enough to avoid accidental activations, and keep the contacts polished a little, so no flickers and unreliability. The battery lasts longer than I anticipated, which surprised me. I may not often use flashlights at peak power, better to save the battery a little and just use what's needed. This light has bright and brighter, easy to select with the switch, and while the included instructions are in reeeally small print, it's also available online, easier to read. So, this thing is fun, really bright, in a nice focused spot. Great optics and a well-collimated beam are impressive, sorta like a lightsaber, minus that head cutter-offering part. It costs a few $$, but having used it plenty, I'd surely buy another, and will be giving three as gifts for the holidays. The only downside I can find if that there's little 'spill', that wide light that surrounds the intense spot. That's the only reason I don't give it my rare fifth star. It's no less a great light, less spill means even more power goes in the spot. Works for me! If you're reading this review, you're already thinking about this tool. I'm not a seller, don't make these lights, got no rellies working for Lumintop. Not compensated in any way for this review. I'm an honest, ethical human, and I do reviews because I like something, or don't. I do reviews because, like you, I do my homework before I buy stuff. Has a long throw. I can light up stuff at a mile! Only darw back I don't like is the ambient light. You have to loosen the cap to shut it off.

    • LUMINTOP LEP Has Horrible User Interface
I don't even know how many flashlights I own, but a LEP is definitely out there (literally). The problem with this light is the horrible UI. It's a reverse-clicky electronic switch, so you can't half press the tailswitch for momentary. On/off is ONLY full click press. While this is annoying, the really horrible part is that the light has mode memory, so you never know if it's going to turn on low or blinding high. To switch modes, you half press while on which, of course, includes full click to turn off. In essence, each time you turn it on/off, it switches from Low to High. I don't know what they were thinking. It also does not come with a belt clip or a holster. It only has a lanyard ring which is loose and clinks around. The pineapple knurling is also deep and excessive. Finally, it has a stupid tail light and some corny glow bars. The tail light never shuts off, so, after turning the LEP off, you have to unscrew the tailcap. ... show more
