This is a really tough one to review. We wanted a piano to take with us on a long trip so my son could continue his practice, and this seemed to fit the bill perfectly. And indeed, it is EXTREMELY portable, and the charged battery lasts a long time, much longer than I expected. It is also really well made, this is of course silicon rubber but it has a premium feel, looks amazing, and decent sound quality. And let's face it... what other options do you really have? As an adult playing it, once I learned the best way to 'actuate' the keys I was able to play rather well, including multiple key roll-overs and very few incorrectly registered notes. All that being said, my 7 year old son did NOT have a good experience. He plays several years beyond his age, much better than I do, and it was immediately clear to me that his smaller fingers were not accurately (or sometimes at all) registering with the piano. It did not seem to matter where on the key he struck, sometimes it would just repeat the note at a very high speed, sometimes when he was rolling over keys it would just not register, etc. We spent several days trying to figure out if there was a trick that would help and ultimately could not find anything that we could do. So to wrap up, as an adult I can say this is convenient, simple, and works well given what it is. However, I would suggest that if you are looking at around ages 9 or younger as the primary audience, you look elsewhere. It is simply too frustrating to see your kid play the notes perfectly and this piano spit out somewhat random sounds. ... show more

    • The keys do not produce sound 25-50% of the time

I'm a pianist having played piano 35 years. I purchased that keyboard to be able to memorize the pieces I'm working on while travelling and have no possibility to take piano with me. When playing, half of the keys do not produce any sound, at the same time every 3rd key will produce 2-10 quick repeating sounds. Seems, technically the reason is the location of the sensors under the keys. The key is made of rubber and there are maybe 10 sensors along the key with 1 cm gaps. Half of the times you just happen to hit between the sensors and it does not produce any sound. That is the biggest problem for black keys, since seems, there are no sensors at the beginning of the black keys, but the black keys are hit normally just at the beginning. At the same time, when you manage to hit the key just above the sensor and hold that for a longer not, it just needs 0.1 mm move the finger to release the sensor and connect it again, so it produces 10 notes of the same key press within a second. That means, there is absolutely nothing to hear based on what you play. It works somewhat what I purchased for, since my purpose is to memorize long pieces of music and I need a keyboard to work on that while travelling. However, I did not expect, the sound outcome is so poor so most of the time I just keep it turned off and learn my pieces silently playing on it. The midi sound aesthetically itself is quite good though. I would suggest the sensors covering the length of the whole key or if not possible, then make the key units itself of something unbending to make sure, they always connect the sensors. ... show more

When playing chords with black keys, it doesn't do that very well. Hard to make a chord, as the sounds don't happen all at the same time! Maybe with time one can get good at handling the odd reaction of the rubber keys, but right out of the box, it's a hot mess. Good for practice however, when no one hears you. ... show more

This is the best roll up piano I've used and I'm a pianist. (Roll ups have inherent disadvantages, and this one has those, of course.) Here's the pros, compared to other roll ups--lays very flat, weighs very little, good-sounding speaker, can use computer power instead of batteries, well-designed, solid construction, and has fewer wrong notes or double notes than other roll ups. Here are the cons--ugly fake silver color, you can't adjust the tempo of the rhythm section, and it's made in China instead of the US. ... show more
