The top layer of this mattress features 1.5 inches of soft and supportive memory foam that responds differently to your body than traditional foam by instantly rebounding and never leaving impressions. Below that, a 2 inch gel- infused layer of memory foam helps cradle your body to offer pressure- relieving comfort. This mattress makes use of 2 inches of transitionary foam to add structure and stability. 6.5 inches of dense support foam, infused with bamboo charcoal, act as a stable support and base for the mattress. Plus, the bamboo charcoal infusion helps keep your mattress smelling fresh thanks to its natural hypoallergenic properties. PYou get what you pay for, I guess. We loved this mattress and it's firmness and the way it alleviated my lower back pain but after a year it started to form valleys despite rotating. There is such a hump in the middle we can hardly roll to the other side of the bed. If you buy this mattress understand that you're not buying a long term investment but that's what the price suggests so no surprise there. Also make sure that you have a proper flat solid bed base or frame. We should have put a large piece of plywood on top of our metal frame. After researching memory foam mattress I'v learned that improper base support can lead to deterioration. I guess we should also note that my husband and I are large people...He's 5'10 300lbs and I'm 5'3 190lbs. So there's that. Honestly, we still love the comfort of this mattress but we know it's only a matter of time before it needs to be replaced and my husband feels like the time is now. Update: We still love our mattress cause we recently purchased, invested in, a proper flat surface box frame and it's made a huge difference. Spent a lot of time reading and re-reading reviews on memory foam mattresses. It appeared to me that no one mattress really stood out in the ratings and satisfaction wasn't correlated to price. We had purchased a couple of Lucid brand mattresses for our sons when they were younger and they seem to hold up very well. Our previous foam mattress was what I would call medium/firm to firm. I was a little apprehensive about going with a plush mattress thinking it may be too soft. As we have gotten older my wife and I have transitioned into side sleepers, which is why I was considering a softer mattress. We've been sleeping on it now for about a week and have been pleased with the mattress. From my experience, I would compare it to a decent quality pillow top that you see in some hotels. The first few inches are pretty soft and have a lot of give, under this the bed gives a significant amount of support. If you are a stomach sleeper I'd look at a firmer mattress but for back and side sleepers I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. ... show more

I've owned 4 Lucid mattress over the last 7 years. They're so inexpensive that I just replace them when I move. Don't let that confuse you though, they are easily the best bang-for-your-buck option on Amazon. They sleep better than the name brand and hold up to a level of abuse that I can't believe is possible. Every time I've moved, my prior roommate or family member is quick to scoop up my lucid mattress. The first one I purchased back in 2013 is still going strong with a previous roommate who weighs in at 300lbs. The trick to taking this good matress and making it the best night of sleep you can get, is to ensure that the base is designed for memory foam. That's it! ... show more

This is the third lucid mattress I've bought in the last 10 years. The first was only passed to the guest room because I moved up to a king size, and I've bought a third because we moved into an apartment and needed another (renting out the house with the old mattresses). This is absolutely the best mattress for stomach and side sleepers. It is firm, but it has just enough give. I cannot sleep on plush beds as a stomach sleeper because my midsection just sinks and puts way too much pressure on my lower back. This mattress, the medium-firm, is perfect. I bought the very first one in late 2012, and switched it out for the king in 2019. All that time, and I had no issues of sinking or sagging. I did use an ikea LONSET slatted bed base which has 60 slats total, 30 on each bed side. I think this helped immensely in keeping the mattress in good shape. ... show more

Please read the whole review. I put this at one star so that you would read my experience . I didn't know what star to put for this. First off I received a brand new mattress that was stained. I decided to contact the manufacturer to see what they wanted to do. I was very discouraged to receive what I thought was a new product with stains. It makes me wonder what type of quality control they may have if they can package this from their Factory with stains. Who knows what the rest of the mattress looks like inside. So basically after contacting them they just blew me off and told me to contact Amazon. No nothing no help no offer to even give me a new cover which is removable to replace the stained one. So the moral to the story is be wary as they will not honor anything or offer to help in any way. On a good note I did contact Amazon and they were more than helpful. They had offered some solutions for me with plenty of options. I did not want to return the mattress and go through that hassle. Now they did offer to return it but I didn't think that would be feasible. So five stars for Amazon for being so accommodating. 1 star for lucid as they are not at all accommodating and do not care about what their product is like when it leaves their Factory. Reality of it all is if they don't care can you only wonder what actually is going on at the factory and that they have no quality control to send a mattress out of their Factory stained. Now for the mattress itself it is reasonably comfortable and I would not call it plush more to the medium range. It does work for us as we are both lighter people. We did not want a firm mattress. We'll see if it even gets softer with time but overall it works. My only concern is how long it will last based on my quality control concerns. Should I have any issues I am sure Lucid would be unwilling to honor any warranty so like I said buyer beware. Thanks to Amazon so making this purchase feel at least a little better.
