These things are tiny lol. It worked for what I needed them for but I wouldn't play on them regularly because I am seriously afraid of breaking them or busting the heads because they're so small but still look great because of the paint job. I would use this as a collector's item for for a beginning percussionist/kid who would take care of them and not damage the paint. "A" for what they are but I wouldn't use them for heavy playing or regular gigging. ... show more

I was very surprised at how small this set of beautifully built bongos were. I watched a video on YouTube regarding playing bongos and found out that you must always release the tension on the drums after you are finished playing and then tighten them back up to play. Very tight is not a problem apparently, as the instructor said you may hear noises. I did not tighten mine that far. They have beautiful graphics and high end hardware, a pretty good sound, but again they are so small as to be more of a presentation type piece. I really like these bongos but in the midst of last-minute Christmas shopping for my son I failed to check the size. They are better as a conversation piece for adults than an 8 year old.
